Export to FLV - Aspect Ratio Bug?

Post by turtle »

Not sure this a bug or not, but I cannot set the aspect ratio for a FLV file in the dialog box. I choose custom, the General tab to set the frame size, etc., however, the Aspect Ratio is set to 4:3 and can't be changed (field is disabled).

So I exported a test video to see what happens to 16:9 video (video itself is 16:9 and Project Properties is set the same). After export, the video is 4:3 letterbox.

Is there a registry setting I can chnage to force 16:9 output or am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to add this to a Ulead buglist?

Hi,
When I make these files I use square pixels.
So a 16:9 source conversion for square pixels would be ( 16/9 = 1.777777778 ) the 1.77778 is the ratio for a 16:9 frame using square pixels.

So whatever your bottom number is that you select for your framesize, say for example 240 then ( 240 * 1.77778 ) = 426 or 427 would be the top number.
426x240 output framesize would work for a 16:9 input source video.
There should already be a 16:9 preset in one of those frame sizes for using square pixels for 16:9 frame size.
Also I think under "Options" you should turn off "Perform Non-Square Pixel Rendering"
You may have to manually assign the frame size under custom.

To simplify this: 1280x720 & 1920x1080 uses square pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9
Therefore:
( 720 * 1.77778 = 1280 ) Hence 1280x720 is 16:9 screen
( 1080 * 1.77778 = 1920 ) Hence 1920x1080 is 16:9 screen

Hope this helps
