Can you run both PhotoImpact 12 and PhotoImpact X3?

Post by Lisa1964MI »

I have both PhotoImpact 12 and PhotoImpact X3 installed and would like to be able to open both versions at the same time.

Why... just to make sure my settings are the same in both versions without having to open and close, I then plan on uninstalling v12.

Has anyone been able to have both versions open at the same time?

Can't be done - they both share certain common files.
You can have multiple versions installed (see my signature below) but you can only open one version at a time.

Thank you for the response although I wish you could run multiple versions, like you are able to do with other software. I once had PaintShop Pro 7, PaintShop Pro 8 and PaintShop Pro X2 al installed at the same time.

Now to my second question, if you can't run multiple versions of PhotoImpact at the same time, now that I have both versions installed, what happens if I want to remove PhotoImpact 12 and only keep PhotoImpact X3 installed, will this remove common items needed for both programs?

Yes that is a possibility. If that happens a simple repair install should fix it.

Might be a silly question but why would you want to run two versions of PhotoImpact at the same time?

Just wanted to say thank you again for the responses.

I haven't uninstalled v12 yet so I don't know if there are going to be issues with that (I'll be posting if there are) but I must say that X3 seems to more stable on my machine and so far I haven't experienced the memory issues I had with v12.

The only dislike I have so far is that I prefer v12's Interface, I'm not crazy about the new colors in X3.
