Confused by X2 download price...

Post by tonyjer »

Hi

Advertised download price is $59.99 as opposed to the full $99.99.

When you select this option (I have VS8 boxed edition) it defaults to £59.99 with VAT totalling £70.49.

Is this right?

Since when did the dollar achieve parity with the pound?

Thanks Tony

It looks like Corel is charging Europeans in euros or pounds with a price which is considerably higher than the US price.
This is not new! Ulead did the same.

I understad that the US version of X2 supports PAL so I am thinking of asking someone in the US to buy the upgrade and mail the link and registration number to me.

Hopefully it will be possible to download to a European IP-address.

I think the price has more to do with the value thereof, or rather in the U.S.'s case, lack of value. It is common knowledge that things can be purchased cheaper in the US, by those in countries like the U.K. Many years ago it was the other way around. We here in the U.S. wondered why things cost more here, then elsewhere. Well the value of the U.S. dollar compared the monetary system of the other countries was stronger or higher. Don't think that it really is cheaper to us here in the U.S. Prices on everything has sky-rocketed...;)
