Hi all
After the great advice from my last post i am now getting closer to getting either videostudio 11.5plus or maybe the newer videostudio x2. What i need to know is how can i convert psd file into ufo file to work in uvs 11.5plus & does the vs x2 us the same format for the dvd menu templates if not what do they use? i read somewhere that video toolbox will do this but that is no longer available,
I phoned Corel they told me i would need to get photoimpact x3 & this will make the ufo files but will not import the psd files to convert them, I was also told to look for one of the batch conversion programs like Iveiw or univeiw neither will do
Please help if you can
Thanks
Pete

VS can read a psd as a picture
For the ufo-format you need PhotoImpat. It is the only program that im- and export this format. For DVD-menues for VS you can not import a DVD-menu in the psd-format. You must recreate it.

PhotoImpact will import PSD files - I do it quite often.
Once in PhotoImpact (All versions) you can then output as UFO.
However.........
Making DVD Menus is not simply a matter of giving an image a UFO file extension, it is in fact quite involved. Please view:

Thanks for that, seems like a lot of work? when you get use to it it will be ok but ??
Cant understand that Corel told me over the phone this was the program i would need & to download the trial ver from there US site, Yes as you say it will save files with the .ufo extension but they will not work as you would expect ?? when i emailed Corel to ask a simple question this is what i got
question
After phoning you today about converting psd files to ufo files for use with videostudeo11.5 i was told to download Photoimpact i can then make dvdmenus (not from a psd file)i down loaded it started to make some dvd templates about 6 in all with the VERY limited templates that come with the trial ver saved the files as .ufo in the 4.3 folder for videostudio 11.5plus,opened the program made my way to the share video & to the dvd menu selected 4.3 aspect & the favorite folder i could see a file name but that was it,Nothing else so i whent back into photoimpact loaded the only stock dvd menu i could find saved as a .ufo file tryed it & it worked why
will the ones i save not work,

Firstly you can no longer purchase VS11.5+ it has been replaced by the more up to date VS X2 (Which is another way of saying VideoStudio 12).
Yes you can add more buttons.

Please view the following link, although written in an earlier version nothing significant has changed other the paths to where files will be saved to, but that is easily worked out.
For instance of you save something to
C:\this direct\this ulead product version 11.0\
You would replace 11.0 with the correct version such as 12.
Also now that Ulead have been bought out by Corel you may find that instead of "this ulead product version 11.0" it now reads "This corel product version 11.0"

I would love to have the time to rewrite many of the tutorials but alas I am in full time employment and simply don't have enough time.
