Creating DVD in 16x9 format

Hi guys
I have another problem re oversize files for downloading to DVD, the last being over a year ago.

I have imported onto Ulead v10 a series of MOV film clips which amounted to approx 7.75gb and ran for 2hours. I subsequently edited the files and saved the trimmed videos knocking the run-time down to 1hr 25mins. When I came to create the DVD it showed I had a little over 5 gb of files and I elected the 'fit to size' option on a regular 4.7gb DVD.

After I had completed the excercise I realised I had not elected the 16x9 option, which I had intended, but the 4x3 format in error.

After I had adjusted the output format to 16x9 I attempted to create another disc only to find that the file size was now showing as 6.3gb.

Can you confirm that by opting the 16x9 format the file size is increased and would an attempt to fit it onto a 4.7gb DVD result in very poor quality?

I am surprised the file size should be any different, after all they are the same files. If this is the case then this means that a regular 4.7gb DVD will only record in good quality about 1 hour of 16x9 format DVD.
Is that really so??

Thanks for your help
Mark

If a video is 4.3 or 16.9 I don't think the file size alters.
What you need to concentrate upon is the bit rate settings.

Thank you Steve, for drawing my attention to the cogs on the 'create disc' screen. I had selected the 16x9 option on the Edit page in File/Project Properties/Edit but had not done so on the Create Disc page via the Cog wheels. When I did this I found the file size reduced back to what it had been before and also the still images (which were of adequate size) came out ok on a small test DVD I made up.
My grateful thanks for another problem solved.
