Yes, but in most cases the large number of short segments is the result of editing. You'd still shoot 20 minutes of your kids playing at the beach, and select the 5 or 15 seconds of the funniest / most memorable video.

Yes that is my point, I was delineating the difference between whether the poster would actually play the long segments on a stand alone DVD player or whether he would use that footage as stock for editing.
