Windows Explorer Drag and Drop to VS Pro X2

I remember being able to drag images, videos, and audio files into the timeline in VS 11. I tried this in the new VS Pro X2, and it no longer works. Now I suspect I might need to turn on a setting, but could not find one.
Anybody seen this issue also? I am running on Windows Vista Ultimate with Corel VideoStudio Pro X2.
That would not be a good thing, still using VS10+

would like to upgrade eventually, but appreciate early adopters checking out these things.
Update: Have downloaded VSX2 Trial software. I am able to use Explorer to click on single or a group of images, videos, gifs, etc and drag them into the timeline.

Drag and drop from where? If from the library panel, it works for me exactly as it has worked with all versions going back to my original VS7...

Used to be you could drag an asset directly from a Windows Explorer Window, right into the timeline. Yes, dragging from the library into the timeline works as it always did, but the Windows Explorer function is the one that does not work in VS X2.
Please check my earlier post above

I downloaded the Trial VSx2 (Currently using VS10+) and I am able to drag from Windows Explorer into the timeline. I know the Charlie Hills VS9 book advocated just adding media that way and it still seems to work in x2.

VS X2 only seems to have a 'minimise' and a 'close' button.
Dragging and dropping doesn't work for me either when explorer is on top of X2.
Can you Alt Tab to bring a smaller window of Explorer over

x2? I just tried it again with stills, video, gif files..I can drag them in..there is a pause longer than with 10+ on them actually moving into the timeline, but they move.

You are right! After a long pause on the first image, I was able to drag. Then subsequent drags were faster to be enabled at the timeline.
Now, when I tried this I was running the 30 trial version. I have since uninstalled that version, and installed the full verson from the install CD/DVD that came with the X2 Pro package. I don't know if that could be a difference.

I use Vista Ultimate, so I can use the Windows key + Tab on my keyboard to cycle through open Windows. I can thus have X2 open full screen (as all versions of VS do -- that, or as Ormond notes, totally minimised to the task bar), and then cycle to a Windows Explorer window which is only open in a small pane. So when it cycles, it appears over the X2 window. I browse to a folder with video in it, and can drag and drop a video clip to either the library window or timeline in X2. I just tried it, and it works fine...
I confess I am not sure what happens with XP i.e. if you can use the Windows key in a similar way to tab through open windows, though I seem to recall you can get the same effect (if in not quite the same visually stimulating way that Vista does it ... ) just by using Alt+Tab...

What I do when running VS on XP, is press the Windows key to make the Start button appear. Then I can either open a program, or right click on Start to explore. Then, as Ken suggested, use Alt+Tab to cycle thru the open programs.

I have checked VSX2 Ultimate with Windows XP SP3 and with a windows explorer window above X2 I can drag and drop onto the time line.

I've tried dragging and dropping photos and video onto the timeline from explorer many times and it just doesn't work for me. Immediately the cursor overlaps onto the X2 window it turns into a black circle with a black diagonal line through it, indicating that it doesn't want to know!
It may be some setting in Vista that is the issue, but it's not really important to me anyway as I don't need to be able to drag and drop.
Another odd thing that happens with X2 on this Vista notebook is that each time I start it from the desktop or the start menu, 'user account control' pops up to get permission to continue. Doesn't happen with VS11.5

Ormond -- that black circle with line through it is the immediate response. I get it too. But if I drag and hold the file over either the timeline or the library pane, in about a second or two, the circle disappears and the drop becomes active.
As for the UAC issue, you might want to right click on the X2 icon on your desktop and select the Compatibility tab. If the 'Run this program as administrator' box down at the bottom is checked, uncheck it...

Thanks Ken.
It appears as I was too impatient! Drag and drop works if I wait a little!
Thanks also for the UAC fix. That was the problem!

I also get the UAC issue (i have just installed the free trial of VideoStudio), but can't solve it by simply unchecking the box "run as Administrator", because... that box is UNCHECKED! Nevertheless, the program only starts after pressing "OK" on the UAC window - no matter what permissions I give to my user. Someone knows why is so?
