Hello, I'm trying to convert some h.264 HD files with 5.1 DD sound to mpeg2 HD, but there is not an option for Dolby D, just mpeg sound and 2.0 , is there a reason to this? or am I doing something wrong?
I've tried with VS 11.5 plus and with the trial of VSX2

There have always been licensing issues with mpeg2 muxed with AC3 (Dolby D) for anything other than going directly to disk.

Your best bet would be to download TSmuxer (free)which can mux a M2V (mpeg2 file) and AC3 to form a M2TS file.

You have to create your own template, which is relatively easy. Although Make Movie Template Manager doesn't have an obvious route to making such a template with 5.1 Dolby, it is there.

Click on Tools > Make Movie Template Manager, then select Add. In the new dialogue box give the new template an obvious name (e.g. AVCHD_5_1). Then in the box above (Path) click on the browse button (with the ...) and browse to an AVCHD file which has 5.1 audio on it. You might want to create a short sample file for this as you would need to keep it on you computer where you would be unlikely to delete it. When you select that file, then click on OK, and you will be back to the original dialogue box. You will now see in the Properties box at the bottom that you have the requisite AVCHD properties, including Dolby 5.1 audio. Click Close and now when you choose Share > Create Video File you will see you now have the choice of your new template down at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

NB: do not EVER try to edit this template to change any of its properties. If you do, the whole template will be lost (or revert to standard mpeg), and you would need to start all over again. But if you leave it alone, you will have a permanent template.
