DVD will not recognise menu page / how to access edit room

Post by mal1965 »

I have just started using MF6 and are working through making picture slideshows my questions are:

When I have make a DVD disc of a slideshow using a menu page I can get past the menu page when I play the disc on a PC by using a mouse click, however when trying the same DVD on a number of DVD players it will not get past the menu page.
I have created the same slideshow without a menu which will work fine on the DVD players.

Also in terms of edit functions, is there a way to use the features that are available in the edit room on a slideshow. The functions only appear to be available for a video clip. I have used windows moviemaker where you can see the timelines etc and edit.

Although your source material is still images and you are creating a slide show, in fact the software is taking those pictures and creating a video from them. Therefore when you reach the menu pages you can do with the slide show anything that you can do with a video source.

It seems a little odd that you say you can select the menu buttons with your mouse but on a DVD player you cannot navigate the menu with the remote. This tends to suggest a faulty disc has been created.
Your best option at this point is to burn the project again but to a hard drive folder rather than to a disc. Then use a software DVD players such as WinDVD, PowerDVD, Nero Showtime etc to view the "DVD" on your computer and make sure it is working correctly.

If it is working then possibly you have either a faulty DVD burner, faulty blank DVD disc or you may have been burning at too fast a burn speed.

Thanks very much for your help, as a very new user I realised I was making a very basic error and not selecting the appropriate DVD media when burning. When I did select DVD+R it worked.
