Thanks for the advice vidoman,
I did try what you suggested with the same result but I did add one Burger transition at a time and I found out that the transition that caused this problem was firestorm.vfx. I was able to add the rest and they work okay. It¡¦s funny that the firestorm transition was also the first one I tried and even though it did not work I kept on going and found what I think was my problem.
babdi,
I had the album transitions working by copying them from VS11.5+ program if you have upgraded try doing that, it may work for you as well. If you did not upgrade, maybe somebody could supply the file.
Thanks!

I have just created a new post about this
Copy Transitions (Burger / Boris etc) from VS11 to VSX2
(I just checked "Firestorm" and it works correctly on my system.)

Badbi,
I just copied the file album.vfx, I got it from VideoStudio11 and copied into VideoStudio 12.
The name of the folder where you can find this file is vfx_plug and so give it a try, it may work for you.
Copy from:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio11\vfx_plug
Copy to:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio12\vfx_plug
I also copied the Burger transitions in the same folder. Firestorm prevent me from opening the program, but it was not the same for sjj1805.
At least this is what worked for me.

Thanks for the input. I uninstalled VS 11.5 before installing VS12

I tried uninstalling VS12 and re-installing. Even deleted Corel folders post uninstallation.
Wondering if I should delete all the traces of entries in registry after uninstallation

Babdi I can not tell if that would make a difference.

Maybe somebody with better computer knowledge might be able to help.

Update
I deleted all the DAT files. VS12 rebuilt it. Still no luck with album transition. Also no response from Corel support so far

I'm sure Ken will jump in and clarify if need be, but when the Album transitions first appeared a couple of years ago Ken could not get them to work. He tried all sorts of fixes, reinstalls, etc. It was not until he had to reinstall his OS (for an unrelated matter) that the Album transitions magically began to work.

You are quite right, Ken and myself spent a month trying to get them to work on Ken's machine. Mine were working and we went through every conceivable file comparing what I had (working) and what Ken had (not working) - I even sent several files over the internet to Ken where a different version or file size etc. was found. In the end the only way Ken got the transitions to work was after re-installing Windows.

And unfortunately, we never worked out why it was not working in the first place! There were a handful of other users in the same position too, though I am not sure that any of them resorted to reformatting their computer!!

I had to reformat as my system crashed. When I installed VS12 for the 1st time (before system crash) it worked like a breeze
