If you read the whole thread (a tall order, I agree) you would see that HDV only gets the blip if you use SmartRender. From the start, I have been suggesting people don't use SmartRender with any high definition video in VS. But it seems that AVCHD, with or without SmartRender, still produces the blip.

Exactly as Ken wrote. In the case of AVCHD, there is a blip at stitches that is not depend on SmartRender.

For those HF100 owners presently suffering with this software bug, I believe I can possibly offer a temporary, very good solution.

Using the camcorder's frame rate of "30P" progressive rather than "60i" interlaced makes the blip disappear. It appears that the program cannot properly splice 60p video with an intervening effect, whereas 30p works properly.

Yikes! So you can't even use smart render for HDV files!

In the limited testing I've done with sample HDV footage, I must admit I've found some aberrations - but I attributed that to my using mts files and possibly due to editing on my laptop.

If smart render doesn't work properly with HDV, I must say I am shocked!

Well, all I can say is try what you have been doing but without SmartRender enabled. You don't -- or should not -- get the aberrations. And if you maintain the original quality settings, I simply cannot detect any quality degradation from the full render -- though I'd be interested to hear if you do. So really, for me, it is only a question of the extra time. And I have plenty of that!!

I think you are mixing up HDV and AVCHD.
In my opinion the current situation is:

AVCHD:
smartrender on=distortions present
smartrender off=distortions present

HDV:
smartrender on=distortions present
smartrender off=NO DISTORTIONS PRESENT

What transition or effect is being used that is causing distortion?

I've imported 10 AVCHD videos from a DL-DVD AVCHD disk. Total size=7.9+ Gigs, 10 Videos.

Then I smart rendered these videos into one large AVCHD video file 7.9+Gigs.
Took about 30+ minutes & I was reading/writing from the same Harddisk.
ALL the videos had the same AVCHD Video/Audio attributes, encoded in MF6+ ( with the HD-Add-On Pack )..
Actually worked great & the resultant large video file plays without any hitches at all.
Total playing time of all the videos was approx 70+ minutes, the AVC/H264 videos were encoded at 15MBS CBR Dolby Audio 5.1 @ 448kbs

I'm having the same problem with a panasonic sd9. I bought the product after seeing how well the smartrender worked. I only then started having a proper go with titles & teansitions and it's really annoying as other than this problem I like it!

I've noticed that using 30p footage seems to reduce the blips/stutters that occur with HF100 footage. I've also tried using Nero Vision first to smart render. I use the resulting file with VSX2, and it seems to reduce the blips/stutters even more, but I don't think it fixes them completely. Another tip is to cut your video during scenes with no camera movement. This also seems to reduce, if not elimintate, the blips.

Hi all, just wanted to join the community of people waiting for the VS12 AVCHD fix These "blips" at stitches is the only thing that prevents me from using your great product!

By the way, I work with Canon HG10.

I think this is a very strong restriction to be a real solution...
Also, I always use 60i mode, and never shot in 30p, I don't like the result video quality (not the mode itself).

Recently start using X2 and notice the jumpy video of AVCHD with transitions. When the same clips were renderred on version 11.5, the problem disappeared.

The problem might be related to the codec. After some trial and error, I found the following solution (at least it works with a Sony SR11).

Backed up the
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems
directory and replace it with the same directory from version 11.5.

The AVCHD problem seems to disappear although it means that you need to find a clean 11.5 install to try this.

Hope this help and the proper fixpack will be release by Corel soon.

Actually, 11.5 has the same problem too, the errors just appear not so frequently as in X12... Try to apply some transition effects - and on 5th or 10th transition you'll get the jump...
I'm now using 11.5 version myself (since X12 makes AVCHD editing impossible). When I create a 30 minutes movie with about 50 different footages and transition, there are 5-7 places where I get these choppy joints (always).. and to get rid of them I have to do some magic: crop some milliseconds on edges, change duration etc etc.. after that, some of them disappear, but some dont (

So the coming fix is just VITAL.

Well I e-mailed Corel about this, and they responded nice and quickly (about 48 hours) with a url to a patch to fix this issue.

I'm not posting the patch as the url is to a private ulead ftp site with a username and password. If you've got a genuine license you can just e-mail their support and they'll send you a patch.

I'm really please with this now as it fixes my one real problem I was having.
