Is this patch for VS X2 or 11.5?andrewpmoore wrote:Well I e-mailed Corel about this, and they responded nice and quickly (about 48 hours) with a url to a patch to fix this issue.
I'm not posting the patch as the url is to a private ulead ftp site with a username and password. If you've got a genuine license you can just e-mail their support and they'll send you a patch.
I'm really please with this now as it fixes my one real problem I was having.
X2 AVCHD SmartRender problems

If this is a real, legitimate patch from Corel, fixing a bug in their software, I would think the link should be prominent on their site, and downloadable to anybody.
What is Corel's official comment on this? I've never had software that required any special username/password in order to get a patch fixing buggy software.
I'm still searching for a viable way to edit SR11 files, and will consider X2 if this really is fixed.

Here's the e-mail I got, hope I don't get into trouble for this, I'm guessing it's not available on their site yet as it may not quite be ready for general release (a common thing with software development - well I am a s/w developer myself), give it a go and see what you think:

And indeed, the Panasonic SD9 had specific problems with VS11.5+/12 that did not seem to be shared with other brands -- possibly associated with the codec used by Panasonic.
As for that patch, I am not sure whether we will get any explanation from Corel as to why they are only making it selectively available at this stage. It could be, though, that they are still working on a single patch to meet a variety of situations, and are releasing a 'beta' version to see how it deals with particular situations...

At first, thanks for the patch! (especially posting it here).
I sucessfully installed it and did some tests. It does fix some things (won't talk about them here), but not the main AVCHD problem I think
I created a new test project, added a dozen of my footages (from Canon HG10), randomly cut some of them, added some transition effects and finally rendered it to a new MTS file (using SmartRender, of course). Everything works great, EXCEPT choppy joints in some transitions. To make it easier to understand what I'm talking about, I uploaded a slowmo version of a video with a choppy joint to youtube (original m2ts version). Right after the crossfade transition effect you can easily see that 1 frame jumps before another. It looks like a j*rk, just keep looking at the guy in white dress walking on the right side of the camera.. And I have about 4-5 similar jerks in 3-4 minutes of rendered video...
Corel, pleease, fix that

Just a bump to get this to the top.
Of the video editing programs that will enable me to work well with AVCHD files, on a 64-bit Vista system, and at a reasonable cost for a non-professional, VSX2 is at the top of the list. The only thing holding me back is this apparent glitch in smart rendering AVCHD files.
I'm really hoping Corel will acknowledge and issue a patch that will definitively fix this!
Thanks.

You felt the need to bump an 8 page thread?

The ONLY thread that is monitored by Corel is the following:DLCPhoto wrote:Just a bump to get this to the top.

Video Studio X2 Wish List for Future Versions
Thanks for the reply, although I was hoping those already in touch with Corel's Tech Support on this issue would be able to update us on getting this bug fixed.sjj1805 wrote:The ONLY thread that is monitored by Corel is the following:

And maybe it's just me, but I would think Corel would be interested in at least monitoring what's going on here - a wish list for future versions is all well and good, but it's got to be at least as important to get the current version doing the job it's supposed to do, free of bugs.
Black Lab - yeah there's a certain irony there
