Label@Once Print Button won't work

Post by McHub532 »

I'm using the Ulead Label@Once program that came on my laptop and it looks absolutely amazing.

The only issue I'm having is that when it's time to burn the image onto the DVD the print button remains 'hidden'. It won't highlight so it can be clicked on.

Wonderful looking program, just utterly useless if you can't actually burn it onto the DVD.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums,
...Ulead Label@Once program that came on my laptop ...
What make/model of laptop? Since this came already installed, I'm guessing it's a freebie, that may not be full featured. Ulead Label@Once is part of the DVD MovieFactory program. Do you have a version of DVD MovieFactory installed, and if so what version? Some laptops such as Toshiba comes with a special full edition (DVD MF 5.6) made just for the laptop manufacturer. These are only available on the laptops.

Thank you Vidoman for your quick response.

My laptop is less than three weeks old. It's the Toshiva Satellite A305.
It came with the Ulead DVD MovieFactory for Toshiba version 5.

The manual pdf file that comes with it dosn't say anything about it being a trial version.. it gives a 7 step by step process on how to print a Labelflash DVD disc.. but like I said before.. the print button is deactivated for some reason.

What do you think?

No your version is not a trial version, however a specially created version just for Toshiba.

Does your laptop's DVD burner have the ability to print to the DVD disc? Do you have a printer connected to your laptop? Have you visited the Toshiba Website and checked for any updates for your laptop? Just because a PC is newly purchased, does not mean that everything is up to date. In fact it most likely is not.

You may need to contact Toshiba about this, since the program is specially made for Toshiba. Canon also has a specially tailored version for their a model of their camcorders.

Yep, my DVD is labelflash capable. Pretty little sticker even on the laptop about it. :)

I've gone to Toshiba and updated it.

I'm trying labelflash.jp and trying to find other free software to use the labelflash ability of the DVD drive.. I've spent the better part of 60+ hours making the most perfect and awesome DVD from my vacation and it's right at the very end.. making the label.

I'm going insane trying to finish this project. (laugh)

You know.. you might be right. It may be a Toshiba issue.

I just downloaded and went to use (LightScribe).. a very good looking program as well.

It will let me print to a printer.. but not the DVD burner.

When I go to control panel and look at printers the DVD burner doesn't show up. Some reason the DVD needs to be turned on as if it is a printer... right?

Do you know how I should go about doing that?

BTW: Thank you so much for being so helpful with this crazy old fella. ;)

I've gone into Control Panel to try and 'add printer' and then I scroll down to DVD burner.. awesome....

Then it wants to know my manufacturer and it's not listed (sigh)

TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L632P ATA Device

It's got a 'generic'.. maybe I should try that?

There is the "Have Disc" Option. Should I try and go to the TSST corp website and see if they have the proper drivers?

Oi... all this work. Heh

Ah.. it looks like if I wait until I get back to my flat after work (my personal laptop is not connected to the internet at work, I'm using a USB drive to move files over to it and try things).....

..that I can just go to the device manager and go to properties.. and to the drivers tap and click on "update drivers".. and it will look for the newest drivers online.

I wonder if that will help my problem at all though? It's not that it's not 'working'.. its just that I have to set it up as one of the printers (sigh)... around in circles I go, what I'm doing, no one knows. ;)

It's fixed.

I went to device manager and had it search the internet for updated drivers.. it scanned around a bit (never said it found a more recent one).. but then just said I was up to date.

I ran the program again and now it lets me select my DVD burner as one of the printer options.

It works now!!

Problem: Print button was not activating for me to print and the DVD burner was not allowing itself to be one of my listed 'printers'.
Solution: Updated DVD burner drivers and it now works.

Thank you for helping me through this sir.

Well... I'm Baaaack.

(frown)

That didn't work after all... it made my DVD light turn on .... and on... and on... after 2 1/2 hours I opened up the DVD drive and found out it hadn't done a single thing the entire time.

Nut'n... complete waste of 20+ hours of my life on equipment that is useless.

Just so you know that you have not gone totally un-noticed, I've been following your posts. However sadly I don't use a printable DVD burner, so I'm out of ideas on why you're having this problem....:(

Lightscribe is a system that burns a label onto a SPECIAL form of DVD disc which has been specially coated for the purpose.

Are you using ordinary blank DVD discs or have you purchased the special lightscribe discs?

Have you made sure that your DVD writer is lightscribe compatible?
Here is a link Lightscribe - an Easy Guide

The version of MovieFactory you have is one specially provided by Toshiba
It is a "Not quite the" full version - I had copies of it on my two Toshiba laptops and was horrified to discover it does not support JPG images!
If you have registered your laptop with Toshiba then they will send out details of software updates and driver updates every now and again.

The patches and updates from the Corel/Ulead sites do not work with the Toshiba versions of this software - firstly the windows directory location is in a different place, secondly the Windows Registry settings are different.

I tend to consider the Toshiba version as a never ending free trial - although it works it does have some limitations compared to the full versions.

Thank you both for your responses, they really do mean a lot to me. I've been on Toshiba's website, even gone to the TSST corp manufacturer of the DVD drive.. nothing, there isn't even a way to leave an email. Toshiba sends you through fifty layers of self-help question and 'answers' but if none of it fixes your problem there is no way to leave a message explaining what's wrong. So you get "technical support" which means, read what it's supposed to do when it's working correctly and if it doesn't, too bad.

Here at least I get a response. (grin)

Yes sir, I paid the extra 300% more for the special DVD's with the LableFlash technology side.

I guess I'll just pick up a magic marker and write on them and pretend the promised Toshiba feature actually works. (sad chuckle).

I've been by that site before.
When I get down to my "Short Model No." mine is not there.

Satellite
Satellite A Series
Satellite A300
Mine is: PSAG4U

And it's not one of the options. That was a dead end for me earlier.

Should I just pick one off that list: PSAG4E
and hope it works?

BTW, thank you for being such a kind person and helping me with this.
