"Live clocks" as seen in "live broadcasts" are mixed in during the broadcast. You could certainly do this, however the clock is not going to be a "live clock" on a video DVD. You can use Robotiq Filters for a countdown/countup timer effect. Have a look at This Thread or This Web Site for getting the Filter.1. how I can add live clock to my video: such as seen on broadcast?
You can also try DV Date if you're talking about the Date/Time code that is included with DV video. DV Date allows you to burn the Date/Time code into the video frames or you can create Date/Time code subtitle files to be used, and not burnt into the video frames.

Whao! Thx a million. The timecode plug-in worked perfectly for me. I never knew VS has this & that it can be this sweet. I really appreciate this contribution.vidoman wrote:......You can use Robotiq Filters for a countdown/countup timer effect. Have a look at This Thread or This Web Site for getting the Filter.....
However, since the timecode filter can only be dropped on a clip at a time, how now do I apply it to a video of about 12 clips, still maintaining the counting up or down?
Pls I can't wait for your response!!!!!

You could do it two ways:
Start a new project and put those 12 clips on the timeline and save as a VSP. Now go back to your original project and insert that VSP into your timeline. It will be treated as one clip and you can add the filter to it.
Or you can render those 12 clips to a video file and insert that into your project, then add the filter.

Re: How can I add live clock/time to video?
Anyone know how to make Robotiq's Timecode Filter work with video frames larger than 720 x 480? My project is 1280 x 720. I can put the timer in the lower right corner of the preview window because that seems to be 720 x 480 but when I save my project to the HDV 720p size of 1280 x 720 the timer display ends up being in the middle of the frame. If I try adjusting the filter options for a 1280 x 720 preview window it returns an error saying 1,280 is not an integer.
I've used this filter lots of times before on standard 720 x 480 video but this is the first time I've tried it with an HD formatted frame.

Mark,
This is the only tool I have seen that will work in the same fashion as the Robotiq Timecode filter on HD footage.

Re: How can I add live clock/time to video?
Thanks for the info. I eventually gave up and just located the timer filter in the upper left hand corner of the frame this time.
