Video Studio X2 Wish List for Future Versions

Jog Dial - hardware!
This is perhaps not so much a VS feature as a new input device.
I'd love to see a device you could use for video editing similar to the jog dial used on analogue editors.
When programs try to create this onscreen and require the user to drag it with a mouse, it's just terrible!
Maybe VS could use the mouse scroll wheel - instead of assigning it to zooming the timeline view, but the wheel is a bit small and not so easy to control as a proper jog dial - so perhaps the ideal device would be a separate jog dial, connected by USB.

I think it would be great if we had multiple sound tracks to use. Often times there is a need for more than just 2 tracks that have sound. I currently split my audio out from the video because I want to have greater control of how the picture will sound so I use filters for them. But since I am limited to sound tracks I cannot add all of the extra sound tracks I would like. I know that the overlay track has 6 to work with...it would be great if we had the same amount or more for sound.

Or, if we had more control over the audio (i.e. adding audio filters) without splitting it from the video. That would give us 8 tracks of audio.david_k_jordan wrote:I think it would be great if we had multiple sound tracks to use. Often times there is a need for more than just 2 tracks that have sound. How about the next version of VideoStudio detecting the operating sys-
tem (Vista 32bit or Vista 64bit) and actually ADAPTING to the OS,
rather than working in emulation mode ? In other words, I would like to
be able to buy a native 64bit version of VS, that will install automatica-
lly in C:/Program Files, and take advantage of my 8 gigabytes of
RAM. Photoshop CS4 is already written as a true 64bit program, for
example.

The majority of users do not have a crashing problem when burning, so that would point to a problem with your install, conflict with hardware, etc.paparcc wrote:Great idea GRDVDjunkie! Or, how about a program that works without crashing on every attempt to burn a disc.
Perhaps you should start a new thread regarding this issue and maybe we could help you work it out.

UNLIMITED TRACKS!!!
I am working on a project with multiple overlays and have maxed out the number of available tracks. I have therefore resorted to saving some of my tracks to a VSP and nesting that in a new project in order to free up some tracks.
The problem is I am constantly having to tweak some of my clips that are in the nested VSP, necessitating that I re-open that project to make my changes first, then re-nest that in my new project so I can continue to edit.
If I had unlimited tracks (as many lower priced NLEs do) I could have been done this project hours ago. Instead, I still have a few hours ahead of me.

Mask & Chromo key
Hi All,
I love working with X2, I think X2 is great value for money.
I would like to see more control over Mask & Chroma keying like in MediaStudio.

The integrated h.264 codec seems to do good job, but it would be nice to have some options for it anyway. And is it really capped to pittyful 640x480?
More precision for control and rendering of masks ant transformation. For example highlighting mask border with lowest value 1 results in very thick line. Rendered middle flash on masks intersection always comes out somehow lowres-like without detail on the main line. Chromakey sometimes causes ugly blockiness.

1) i wish the video studio X2 can let me modify a few selected picture or transition duration in a time instead of select 1 by 1 to change the duration. i know we can set the default pictures duration at preferences and import the pitures, but the problem is when i finished process all the pictures(done sorting, color correction, contrast and brightness) and trimmed all the video in the project, my client will ask me to modify the duration for certain pictures or transition (sometimes 50 to 100 or even 500 psc pictures.........) imagine i have to modify the duration 1 by 1...is a painful job for me....
2) for the music track or voice track, i hope it can let me import music files or voice files at the pointer we put at the track instead of put at the last end of music files added.

Select all the clips you want to change (Shift+click) then right click and choose Change Image Duration.1) i wish the video studio X2 can let me modify a few selected picture or transition duration in a time instead of select 1 by 1 to change the duration. i know we can set the default pictures duration at preferences and import the pitures, but the problem is when i finished process all the pictures(done sorting, color correction, contrast and brightness) and trimmed all the video in the project, my client will ask me to modify the duration for certain pictures or transition (sometimes 50 to 100 or even 500 psc pictures.........) imagine i have to modify the duration 1 by 1...is a painful job for me....

I've just completed a trial of X2, prior to that I was a V10 user. The two things about VS that have me tearing my hair out, are the Help text that seems to assume you know the answer already by repeating what the field is and other help that is missing or posssibly in an obscure place e.g on Project settings there is a field called field type, no explanation of what it does or why I should want to change it. I would like to press F1 and the help go straight to the pages that referred to where I was at the time. And worst of all.. the combination of error messages that are no use at all and don't refer you where they were found in the project. The majority of my problems were caused by items overlapping in the time line, why it would let me overlap them is a mystery but once they get in that state they crash the project eithor immediately or during render , with a message about a library problem, So it knows where it is, it seems to know what it is, so why not tell me so I can fix it?
