1-
Clip handles at BOTH the begining of the clip and at the end. Sometimes you want a [full] clip to END at a certain point on the timeline, regardless of where it starts.
With VS 11 and 12 only the begining of the clip has the handle (The thin line that goes up from the selected clip to the timeline)
VS 6 or 7 had these (Both handles), which gave more control (and thereby more flexibility) in placing clips.
2-
More control over DVD templates (text, image, preview widow-"Smart" template creation.)
3-
At least some 3D text creation. I have C3ds Production, but it's so painful to use anymore (read sloooooow), that I try to avoid it at all cost.
I'd pay the 100$ or so for the plain Jane version of X2 (currently called PRO),
But with better DVD authoring and some 3D text generation as part of a complete "Pro" package, I'd have no problem paying more for a more coherent bundled package

Can you be a little more descriptive.2-

Check out Xara (xara.com). Great for simple titles, plenty of presets, and fast rendering.3-

A fairly minor thing:
The sliders for for setting the amount of color correction (brightness, contrast, etc.) are hard to adjust in small increments. A slight mouse movement usually changes the value by more than wanted, and it is necessary to fiddle with it for a while (moving the slider left and right) to get the slider set the the desired value. For example if you wanted to set a slider to 8, starting from zero, you might slide it a little to to the right but it goes to 10. Then you slide it to the left as slightly as possible and it lands on 6. Keep trying and you eventually get to 8.
Perhaps they could add arrow heads at both ends of the slider that, when clicked, increments the value by 2 (which is the smallest increment provided by the slider).
Or small text box that allows typing in the value.

I'd like the ability to create different DVD menus that have a preview area of size and shape of my own making.
There may be a way to do it with masks and layers, but I don't know what file types or how. I vagely remember they have to do with *.ufo files . Maybe have a video running as the background instead of a static picture for the menu screen
And, allow me to select the run time of the preview/music portion of the menu [more than 30 seconds]
Also, animated text, 3d text. [Fly, Fade, scroll, etc]
That kind of flexibility

Thanks for clarifying.
You can make your own menus. Look in the DVD Products Tutorials for Steve Jones' (sjj1805) method.
Also, you can have a video for the menu by choosing Motion Menu on the menu edit screen.

I hoped this new version (12) of VideoStudio would allow the automatic import of MOD files from my JVC Everio hard drive camcorder but (unless I'm missing something or doing something wrong) I still have to navigate by hand via VS's "Edit" function and Windows Explorer to the JVC's hard drive, highlight the relevant MOD files and import them.
Interestingly, the latest version of Adobe Premiere Elements (version 7) does recognize my JVC Everio and import clips directly from it. So, come on Corel, if Adobe can do it, you can do it too!

Time & Date Stamp
I do some technical films (crash scenes, etc.) and I would like to have a date drop down list as well as a time clock (to say hundreds of a second) that I could directly add to a video. I know some DV have this imbeded but I would like to add what date and time the video was edited for instance. I know you can get some time clocks programs and add the capture to a time line but having them in the program would be much easier and faster.

The ability to "group" clips and titles
Say you have two video clips on the time line, and at the start of the 2nd clip you display a title (or an overlay clip, or....)
It would be great if you could "group" a number of items (e.g. clip 2 & the title) so that if you edit the duration of clip 1 (thus moving the position of clip 2 when in ripple editting mode) all the grouped clips move together.

Yes, I wish toogi1mo2 wrote:- Have a more granular default transition time and photo duration. Currently in seconds only (e.g. want 3.15 secs) - main reason to match music beat
- Better file management - Need to return to selected Image or Video folder when switching from Edit, Capture, Effects. - Better management capabilities (tagging, favourites, dim images thumb already selected in timeline).
I wish furthermore:
- Fade out to black at the last clip a u t o m a t i c a l l y.
- Import Video-Files into archive:
- I have often to import over 100 Clips, and VS12 prompt a failure
- OK, I have a workaround, but:
- I wish an Import-Function, wich supports up to 999 Clips
Best regards

VSP Wish list
What I wish is for Ulead to merge some of the functionality of Media Studio Pro and Video Studio, especially more audio overlays and moving paths. These are the two aspects of MSP 8 that I use the most with the exception of multiple video overlays, but VSPX2 already took care of that.
Ken (Berry), you said in a previous thread that many things cannot be integrated into VSP because that is not a package for professional use; however, I think that statement is disingenuous at best. You're right that VS is not for professional users; however, Ulead/Corel has made it clear as day that they are abandoning MSP. So, what choices do we have left? MSP 8 is old and buggy. Those of us who need more than VS or even VSPX2 can provide are now having to choose between using a package that is old and no longer supported or having to chose a competitor's product that's also more expensive. So, either way is a lose-lose.
Corel should do the proverbial "two birds with one stone" and make VSPX2 as professional as possible with a new, optional layout while still leaving the current layout as an option for the hobbyist. That way they can give themselves a leg-up over Pinnacle Studio while simultaneously holdnig onto people who are now starting to lean towards Adobe Premiere.
You wanted out wish lists for future versions. Well, there's mine. Take some of the "professional" functionality from MSP and migrate it to VSP.

Corel has stated that they will continue to add to VS to make it more like MSP. How long that transition will take, and what it will include, only time will tell.
BTW - WE ARE!

+1 for grouping like that.Zippy wrote:Say you have two video clips on the time line, and at the start of the 2nd clip you display a title (or an overlay clip, or....)

Also I'd like to see fade in fade out durations on clips (altough i may be missing something as I've only just really started using it)
1. More sound tracks are a must.
2. Chapter marker names that come over to the DVD creation process with those names intact.
3. Ability to save in the DVD creation process wthout having to exit out of it.
4. Ability to use transitions on both ends of an object in the overlay tracks.
5. More overlay tracks.
6. Ability to use alternative pictures/movies for thumbnails in the disk creation process.
7. Ability to use alternate movie as transition from one menu to another in the disk creation process.
8. Ability to lock a text box on the title track so that when entering multiples of text in different areas you are assured that they will always be positioned at the same place on the video. It is a pain to have to reposition text everytime it is entered.
9. Ability to take a snap shot of the current frame of all tracks on the time line.
