VS11.5 Stuttering

Post by Jorel »

Hi
got a really good spec pc but VS11.5 is stuttering when in use. Tried only loading essential programmes at startup no virus or spyware software but still it is not working correctly. Everytime I work on a video clip for instance chroma key it there is a long lag time of around 10 seconds before I can carry out another task.

I have 64 bit Vista home premium as the OS.

Would appreciate some help please.

Thanks
Jore :(

What type of clips are you working with? Right click on one and post its properties.

VS 11.5 Stuttering

Hi

I am using MTS files which are downloaded from my canon HF10 camcorder. Very new at this, I used to use VS 10 with a canon 600i which used tapes the HF 10 uses SDHC memory cards.

Frustrating trying to edit as it is very slow...

Your camera films in AVCHD mpeg-4 format, which is just about the most demanding format that exists today... Yes, your computer is fine -- I too have a Core 2 Quad. But editing AVCHD is a real pain -- stuttery playback, especially in Project mode, and long delays. I am afraid that is the nature of the beast.

You could try using VS11.5+ SmartProxy feature, which speeds things up and gives you at least smooth previews. Essentially, it creates standard definition mpeg-2 temp files (Proxies) of the original AVCHD. Then when you finished editing the Proxies, the edits are applied to the originals. Be aware that generation of the Proxies and application of the edits both take some time.

VS11.5 Stuttering

Hi
thanks for your help, I guessed that it was because of the high spec of clips that may be causing the problem. I will try out what you have suggested, maybe NASA could loan me one of their main frame PC's.

Thanks
