0x0b8d7545 Memory could not be read

Post by paullaw1155 »

Using Ulead 10+, Operating System Windows XP Media edition. 1Gb Ram
Radeon 1550 graphics card. 350 GB hard drive with 280 Gb free space. Been using this product for 12 to 18 months always had problems. Currently getting the error code 0x0b8d7545 Memory could not be read before the programme crashes. Gone into virtual memory and tried altering it to 1024 etc ( can't remember exact number) but could not alter it to the recommended setting.

I have learnt to create my programmes in small batches because of instability of Ulead and then Use Nero to Create DVD.
Current project last about 10 minutes with only about 4 minutes of video footage.
Very disappointed with Uleads Support section, I tried getting patches on my previous version (9) but was advised to upgrade to Version 10+  . Hope you can help.

I don't know what this error message means, but the real problem probably has nothing to do with "memory". Video Studio (or a CODEC) is probably having trouble handling your audio/video file.

What file formats are you using? The highly-compressed formats seem to cause the most trouble (MOV, MPEG-4, DivX, etc.).

We are all volunteers here, so we can't help with official support. But, the website still shows updates for VS9. These might not install if you have a "free" SE version... I don't know...

And, don't upgrade to VS11, without downloading the trial version first! Upgrading may not solve your particular problem!

Details
I get an error message, "MEMORY COULD NOT BE READ.?What do I do?

Answer
Increase your virtual memory.

Go to My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Performance, Settings .

In the Advanced tab, click Change and set the virtual memory as the values shown below:

Custom Initial Size: 1024
Maximum Size: 4096

Click Set then OK .

Restart your computer.

Doug, Apologies if you thought that I meant members of the Forum were unhelpful, I meant the official Ulead Support,
I am currently using Version 10+.

The file that i am putting into my time line are from my Sony DV camcorder. I have created quite a few DVD,s but have always had problems with crashes BEFORE i render the full project.

I rechecked my latest project which runs for 11 minutes with 5-6 minutes of video. The entire time line has 58 frames. Just opened the project and it has crashed before I can do anything else with it, Very frustrating...

Definitely will not be upgrading to version 11. I have been using Ulead since Version 8. That was the most stable one of them all.

Thanks for input

I am a little bit confused here. You say your project is 11 minutes long but has only 5 - 6 minutes of video. What else is in it which makes up the 11 minutes? And you say there are only 58 frames in the timeline.
Do you mean short clips? Or actual frames? If the timeline is expanded to frame by frame view, 58 frames is only a little over 2 seconds for PAL and a little under 2 seconds for NTSC...

Ken

I have included images and video film footage into the time line, Some of the images have text and info on, I allow 20 seconds to read the text clips and 8 seconds to see the images, I use filters and panning of the images.
It may seem confusing but the finished results are always appreciated by whoever i have created projects for.

It may be worth putting a clip on you tube for you to see what i have done??

Jeff

I have increased the virtual memory, according to the Ulead manual you should double the amount you already have in Ram, Will try as you say.

Crashing/Video studio got to close

Post by paullaw1155 »

Programme still crashing even after following advice,
The most stable version of Ulead I had was an OEM version which was free with a purchase of a Fire Wire I upgraded to Version 9 (from E-bay complete with serial key and manual) only got an occasional crash.
I purchased a full retail version of Ulead 10+ from E-bay (Sealed Box, Serial Key,Etc) for further enhancements of VS Studio.

I must say that reading about problems members of the forum are having makes me wonder about purchasing via the legitimate way. I would like to try VS11 but do not feel that I should have to when VS 10+ gives me all that I want.
As an end user we should not have to JUST ACCEPT the uncertainty of software not working correctly after all we have paid for a new product.

No problems with any other of my Corel products

Regards

The only other thing I can think of is that such a message can, in a very few cases, be indicative of something going wrong with your RAM. I know that, about 3 years ago, with a brand new computer, I started getting such a message on a relatively regular basis. I ran a RAM test, and it revealed a problem in one of the series of passes. I got a new stick of RAM from the computer manufacturers, and the problem went away. I am not saying this is what is happening in your case. But I would Google for a RAM test and try it out. Let it run its full cycle a few times, as an emerging problem might not always show up in the first pass...
