Catastrophic Failure 17101:70:2 What does it mean

Post by paticio »

Hi all,
I used VideoStudio to digitiz my recorded TV program from a SAT set top box harddisk. ie replay the video from the settop box harddisk.Upon completion, it said the video cannot be insert into timeline. I kept the video clip. I was able to replay the video clip using Window media player. The file saved is avi format. File size is 9G for 45mins of video.Capture setting was DV-1.
PC system is XP home, Harddisk is NTFS.
I tried to open a new project to insert the video clip without any success.

Any suggestion? was it the problem with the files size?

I would like to covert it to mpeg format. a smaller file size

Please right click on a clip and copy ALL of its properties here.

Unable to get the properties

The video clip cannot be added into the video library. Therefore I am not able to obtain the video clip properties within the videostudio software. At the same time, I did a test to do a relink of a video clip which i made long time ago, I got the same error. What could be the problem?

DV is a rock solid part of Windows, not just Video Studio. In fact, VS uses the DV codec installed by Windows. So see if you can open the file in Windows Movie Maker. If not, then you obviously have corrupted or destroyed the original DV codec somehow or other.

Is the other file which you have just tried also DV?

Tried with Window Movie Maker

Ken, Thank you very much for your advise, I tried with the Window Movie Maker. The file cannot be opened/imported into Window Movie Maker and the software crashed. I am able to replay the video clip with window media player. If it is the problem with the DV codec. How can i correct it? please advise and thank you in advance for your assistance.
Currently, i have the following installed:
Media Player Codec Pack
DIvX
GOM Player
Media Player 11
I am able to replay the video clip in all of the above player.
Will I need to re-digitize the video?

I'm having the exact same issue. However I CAN open and edit the DV Captured files in other programs such as Nero Vision 10 and Windows Movie Maker so my captured files are not corrupted. They simply will not import into Corel VideoStudio Pro X3. I'm finding it very frustrating as I want to use some of the filters in Corel VideoStudio Pro X3.

If anyone has a solution please post it.

Cheers.
