I have been using this package for a year now for converting audio to wmv and burning dvds. I once had a problem with the audio but was instruted to reinstall and the problem was corrected.
I had to replace my package because it was inadvertently deleted. I reinstalled and now I cant get past the first menu. I select Video...create a new project and get the desktop for a few minutes and then it comes back with the main menu and no messages.
This is similar to what happened with the audio six months ago but when I reinstalled it was fine.
I have paid to have support help me and followed their instructions and updated all my graphics and reinstalled....still not working.
Does anyone have any clues as to what may be wrong and how I can fix it?
I would appreciate it.

By the first screen, do mean the Launcher? If so, have you tried launching DVDMF (version?) from the main program? It would be in the Start>Programs>Ulead DVD MovieFactory (version #)>Ulead DVD MovieFactory (version# here).
Have you recently updated your DirectX drivers from MicroSoft? In fact I think I need to, as I read in another post the current release is now Aug 2008. This is not provided with the standard windows auto-updates. You must manually download and install them.
Would you have any other DVD software installed that might compete for use of the DVD burner/player? Some of these tend to block other DVD authoring software from accessing the drive.

One other possibility, good ol' D.E.P. (Data Execution Prevention).
To Exempt a program from DEP do the following:
1. Right-click on My Computer and Select Properties
2. In the System Properties dialogue that opens click on the Advance Tab.
3. Click on the Settings button for Performance.
4. In the Performance Options, click on the 3rd tab, Data Execution Prevention.
5. Click the radio button for Turn on DEP for all.....
6. Click on the Add button, a window will open that you can navigate to where the executable file for VS, MSP, PI or whatever program you're having problems with, is located. Generally this is found under C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\. However you may have it installed to some other location on your system.
7. Once you have found it, click on it to add it to the execeptions list.
Now if DEP was preventing your program from launching that should take care of it.
Oh and I made a short video demonstration of this:

There are no executable files
When I browse the library I get the Ulead folder and open it and the file type shows automatically as "executable files" but there are none in any of my folders....

I have tried this and it did not work either
I tried the DEP thing and rebooted and it still does not work.
I did try some other options. It said something being off in the WINDVD resolution so I changed it. It still didn't work.
I am at my wits end. I really need to use this before the end of the week.
I dont know what to do at this point.
Thank you for all your help.

Re: There are no executable files
You must have a file in the Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 folder called DVDMF.exe. Try searching your system for that file. If it is missing, the program can not run. So you will need to reinstall the program.franny0720 wrote:When I browse the library I get the Ulead folder and open it and the file type shows automatically as "executable files" but there are none in any of my folders....

Can't run Ulead MF6
Ihave the same problem as the first poster. The program suddenly stopped working. I can't open anything, either from the launcher or from the menu. Even clicking on the exe files does not open the program. I uninstalled it and reinstalled, still no go. Then did a repair operation from the uninstall menu. Still nothing. What is causing this? It started with about 10 days left in my trial run of the program. I certainly can't purchase the program if I can't even get it to run.
When I click on the launcher, it does what it did for franny...nothing happens for a while and then it returns to the launcher menu. When clicking on the individual programs, nothing happens. The exe files do exist in the program folder and clicking on them also does nothing.

I had the problem and found that I could use windows task master (Control-Alt-Del) and end the process DVDMF.exe then restart MF6 and it would work okay. Kluggy but it worked.
After reading about (Data Execution Prevention) I added the launcher.exe and DVDMF.exe to the exception list and the MF6 works okay with having to end DVDMF.exe
Thanks for your help.
