change duration of multiple images

Post by johncmug »

I have a 9 minute video of about 100 or so pictures. Each image plays about 5 seconds. I want to increase each picture to play for 7 or 8 seconds. Can I change the duration of each image without going into each image separately?

Thanks in advance,
John

Yes this is possible..

With all the clips you want to change selected, go to the Clip menu and select Change Image/Color Duration.

It is not recommended that you use your email address as your user name because it makes you vulnerable to spammers. If you send me a PM with some alternative user names I will alter it for you.

Hello, I have this same question. I have about 250 images to select. How do I select all of them at the same time? I can't seem to figure that out. Thank you...ahead of time.

Click on the first one, press and hold the Shift key, click on the last one.

Using X4 --

Selecting multiple clips only seems to work in Timeline mode -- which also selects my transitions. Is this correct?

Secondly, which menu selection to apply a new duration to all of them?

Thank you
Trevor Andrew

Hi

As mentioned earlier in this post:-

Using the mouse select the first image.
Hold the Shift key down then select the last image, all images between will be selected.
For X4 choose Edit-Change Photo/Colour Duration.

This will only change the image duration NOT the transitions

After selecting multiple photos in timeline or storyboard, that Edit option is not enabled, either from the Edit menu or via mouse right-click.

Thank you

It is only available for the Main Video track. If your photos are in an overlay track, you will have to either move them to the Main track, then use the aforementioned to change the duration, or change each one separately.

You should have these menu options...

Timeline mode, photos selected, right-click;
right-click_photoduration.jpg
Edit Menu:
edit_photoduration.jpg
edit_photoduration.jpg (16.93 KiB) Viewed 8202 times
Storyboard mode, right-click on photos;
storyboard_rightclick.jpg
What format are the photos? Maybe that is what's causing the problem???

Thank you for all your screenshots!

Except, in my case the option to change duration is always dimmed (disabled) unless I am doing 1 photo at a time. They are all JPEGs.

Thanks again

Standard ol' JPEG or Progressive? I don't think VS likes the progressive flavor much. If they are rock standard JPEG, then there's something messed up with your installation of VS.
