Hi,
First posting ¡V please be nice.
I am hoping that someone (anyone) can help me get sound. I¡¦m tearing my hair out ¡V what¡¦s left of it¡K
Just purchased EasyCap Caputure, which included Ulead VideoStudio SE DVD 10.0. I am new to this.
I am trying to capture video from my VHS (PAL) to my computer using EasyCap USB 2.0. RCA cables coming from Panasonic VCR (video and 2 audio, s-video in), connecting to EasyCAP USB 2.0 Video Adapter with Audio, which connects to my computer by USB. I am able to get the video with no problem, but I cannot get any sound.
I am using composite connections from my VCR(via a Scart to composite connectors) Hope that makes some kind of sense?
I go to capture and the ¡¥green¡¦ mute sign appears.
Everytime I change the source I get a warning, "Mute" appears in large green letters, in the botton right hand corner of the screen ¡V as you look at the screen. In the source box the following are present: Syntek STK 1150 and 713x Anolog Capture and Digital TV Source.
I have checked and checked and¡K the sound/audio devices ¡V not one of them is in, ¡¥mute¡¦. All devices are working ok. I disabled the anti virus software when installing the program. I also did an uninstall, reinstalling the software ¡V still the same problem.
I am running WinXP Media Centre Edition. Core 2 duo, 2gb ram, 250gb HD.
I have trawled thru the site and tried some the suggested solutions ¡V all to no avail.
I am hoping and praying that there is an, ¡¥easy¡¦ solution to this and some very kind person will say, ¡§All you have to do is¡K
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Take care,
Greg

Did the EasyCap come with its own capture software, or just the VS? If it has its own you should use that for capturing, then use VS for the editing.
If software was not included, what happens if you try capturing with Windows Movie Maker?

Hi,
Really appreciate the reply ¡V thanks.
I believe that the EasyCap came with its own software via the USB device, but not 100% sure.
Using the ¡¥Syntek STK 1150¡¦ source driver, I manage to receive the picture ok, but no sound. Using the other two, 713x Anolog Capture and Digital TV Source, I receiver no picture and no sound.
I have just tried to capture the VHS video to Windows Movie Maker (I didn¡¦t know you could do that ¡V how naïve can you get!). Same result ¡V picture comes up but no sound.
Any ideas???

Go into your Windows audio controls and make sure Line In is set up correctly or muted.

Hi,
Thanks again.
I have done this: In the Control Panel there is the ¡§Sounds and Audio Devices¡¨ icon. I opened it and selected the ¡§Volume¡¨ tab. I then selected ¡§Advanced¡¨ and then ¡§Options.¡¨ Under ¡§Options¡¨ selected ¡§Properties.¡¨ I understand that I should then Select ¡§Recordings¡¨ and then ¡§Line-in¡¨ must be selected.
From ¡§Properties.¡¨ Tab: the Mixer Device seems to be defaulted to, HD Audio rear output. The Recording tab is ¡¥greyed¡¦ out.
It does have a tick in the box next to, ¡¥Line in¡¦. Nothing in the box to say ¡¥muted¡¦.
I have also tried to select, ¡¥713x BDA Analog Audio Capture¡¦ from the Mixer Device ¡V this shows ¡¥Recording¡¦ and just one box (ticked) showing ¡¥Audio¡¦.
Any ideas what I¡¦m doing wrong?
Greg

Hi Ken,
Many thanks for your support.
My PC has the necessary connections on the front panel which I am using now, not the EasyCap USB device and trying to get Windows MM working first. I figure if that happens maybe the Ulead video studio will work too..?
I have tried using the S-video connection alone (no luck) and with the red and white audio cables (no luck) and just using the red/white/yellow cables (no luck). I have tried changing the red and white around - no luck. I have also tried using the red/white/yellow cables and the S-video connection all together, still no luck. It appears the the S-video connection does not do anything. The video comes thru fine using the yellow cable - just no sound from the red/white cables.
There has to be simple solution - damned if I can figure it out!
It is now getting on for midnight here in the UK and short of throwing the pc out of the window - I'm going to bed and dream...
Looking forward to hearing some inspiration and once again many thanks.
Take care,
Greg
