While cleaning up my folders and files I discarded some key files and Windows couldn't configure certain programs. When I would attempt to open certain programs I would get the error message below. After re-installing Windows XP Home Edition, I was able to reload all programs that did not work before, about 3 total, and now they worked fine...except Ulead VisualStudio 11.
I have reloaded the software numerous times. I've changed locations on C: drive to different paths. I've cleaned up the Registry files with a program called 'Registry Cleaner'. I've defraged C: drive many, many times. I've also brought up 'RegEdit' (Registry Editor) and went through all the files cleaning out anything with Ulead. After all this, I still get the same following message:
'The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Have any of you old-timers faced this situation before? Can anyone help?
Thank you for taking the time to help.

Can not reload Ulead VideoStudio 11 Software
Thanks sjj1805, I've spent the day deleting files and folders, trying to clean up my 'Explore' folders and files according to the information you provided. I've loaded 'Ulead VisualStudio 11' five or six times but each time I still have the problem about 'configuration'. I finally found some folders and moved them from 'C' drive to 'h' drive to get them out of the way. When I tried to reload 'Ulead' I got an error message about 'h' drive one time.
Now I have a new problem. The program, name, 'Ulead VisualStudio 11' remains in the Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs, after I deleted the files. Every time I try to reload or install 'Ulead' my computer wants to delete it, and we get nowhere. I went online to Microsoft and found out how to 'Manually remove programs from the Add or Remove Programs Tool'. In 'Regedit32', following instructions, I deleted the string of long numbers (in the left hand margin) that was named (in the right hand margin) Ulead Visual Studio 11. The Add or Remove Program however, still has the name listed and every time I try to reload it wants to remove the program but can not find the files. Of course it can not find the files, they have already been deleted.
The Summary of this Microsoft program is: This article explains how to manually remove an item from the CURRENTLY installed programs list in the Add or Remove Programs tool if the item is still displayed after you initially try to remove it. For some reason the name will not be removed.
My hard drive has been defraged and on my hard drive of 233GBs I now have 222GB free, which is what I had before initially installing VisualStudio 11 months ago. I believe if I can remove the presence of VisualStudio 11 from the Add or Remove Program, I'll be able to load the program successfully.
Can you provide any assistance.
Phillip

Cannot reload Ulead Visual Studio 11
Hello again,
Thanks to 'system restore' I finally went far enough back in time to be able to have a loaded version of Visual Studio 11 in the Add or Remove Programs section of the Control Panel to delete. Needless to say, I tested it before removing it.
I followed sjj1805 post and have cleared the Microsoft Explore numerous times. Cleaned all the Regedit and Regedt32 numerous times. Followed sjj1805 post to a tee. Reloaded the software and the same thing each time...the same message, program not configured correctly, reloading the software may fix this problem. I've been cleaning and reinstalling the software probably eight to ten times Saturday, and once in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Any additional help would certainly be welcome.
Thanks sjj1805 for your reply. Your posts have always been a blessing.

The only thing that I can suggest is that there is something on your system that is mucking things up. Right now I'm using a system similar to yours, except it is an AMD processor. I've reinstalled VS several times, and never had this type of problem.
My suggestion is not a pretty one... Since it has already caused you considerable headache and time, I would opt to back-up all my personal data files (My Docs, Pictures, music, ect) and start from scratch. In other words wipe the system clean and re-install windows.
Once you have Windows re-installed, with all the necessary drivers, the first program I would install would be VS. Then before installing anything else test it. It should work without any problems. Then proceed to install other programs.
At least you would have a clean system that should run much smoother, and not present any immediate problems with VS..

Cannot reload Ulead Visual Studio 11
Thanks Vidoman. I've given it some deep thought and will take the appropriate time to back up files and obtain various drivers needed after formating C: and reinstalling Windows XP.
Again, I appreciate your input and suggestion.
