Import madness

Post by zforray »

I am trying to import a DVD into DVDMV6+ to convert back to mpeg format. The DVD contains 30+ chapters/videos.

80% imported just fine.

The rest were imported as subdirectories contain >7000 jpg files. Essentially, 1-per frame??????

What the heck is going on and how do I import these properly.

Tried it twice with the same results. Even tried to import just the chapters that did not import correctly, after I figured out which ones were missing.

Yes, I have all the patches.

You can try copying the .VOB files to your hard drive and renaming them to .MPG. Or, you can try a FREE program called VOB 2 MPG.

When the Import function works, it works better than anything else I've tried... But, sometimes it fails... :( (I've never seen the symptom you're experiencing.)

The only problem with this approach is when the video spans VOB's. I have seen this situation, before.

True... And, when I've tried to re-splice the clips with a video editor I've had "glitches".

But, VOB 2 MPG will make one big MPEG file... If it works with your particular DVD.

The VideoReDo website lists some techniques for combining the VOB files, including one method that simply uses the DOS/Windows copy command. (When I tried it I had some problems, but I don't remember what the problems were, or if the problems had anything to do with the actual file-joining process.) You can also find free file-splitting/file-joining programs, which should work if the information on the VideoReDo site is correct.
