Just your thought on how well they are performing compared to other products.

My VS versions 7, 8 & 9 have worked fine. I've also used Cool 3D and, while sometimes difficult to understand, once I downloaded some of the tutorials I made some great graphics.

This is a user to user forum. Take up your problems with Ulead and stop muddying up this great resource.

I agree.

You won't achieve anything except annoyance by whining on this forum.

I share the sentiments of the two respondants. Considering the complexity of the software (and how it reacts on different PCs & OS'), my Ulead products have worked fine overall - pretty powerful stuff!

regards.

I have enjoyed Ulead versions 6, 7, 8 and now 9. Version 7 gave me the most bug problems, but they were solved or I was able to develop work around solutions, thanks to this forum. I would recommend the Ulead products.

I've owned UVS 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, as well as MSP 5 and 6. There have been occasional problems and frustrations (as with any complex software), but nothing I haven't been able to work around.

On the few occasions where I did contact Tech Support, they have responded promptly and been able to help by providing patches that weren't yet publicly available.

I have used UVS 7 and 8. Version 9 is on it's way to me. They are very enjoyable programs to use and I have produced some great DVD's, If I have a problem, there are several people on this forum with a good deal of knowledge who are willing to share their experience and help out. You must be prepared to be patient and learn how to use the program properly. This means: using the manual, experimenting and practising. as well as regularly reviewing the posts in this forum.

I used Photoexplorer 8 with no problems - a fairly simple programme though. I also have Video studio 8 and have found it difficult to get the results I have been looking for. I am perervering though as I have not come across anything better. It does seem a shame that Ulead are not more responsive to customer problems.

Ulead is great! Not perfect. But what is?

I also have had excellent results with VS7, then 8, now 9. A very easy and intuitive program to use.
Just a thought for the "whiners" out there: in IBM-land, unlike Apple, people have an almost infinite variety of hardware configurations, then they run a similarly wide variety of software (containing codecs) - the possibilities for conflict are endless.
Add to that the human element - I have made my share of "dumb mistakes" - I'm sure others do too!
So if it doesn't work, don't blame the program. It's probably something else.

My heart sank when I saw this thread, but I told myself, "Might as well know what people are saying, no matter how negative," and clicked in.

What a surprise to find the positive comments! I'm so very glad!

Rwindeyer's post is the one that rings true with me. No workshop tool is perfect, no vehicle is perfect, and no software is perfect. Description of problems is fine, but endless griping leaves a bitter taste. We work with what we've got.

Then I'll continue them.

I've used MediaStudio Pro since version 2.5, VideoStudio since version 3 SE, PhotoImpact since version 4, Cool3D since version 1, DVD MovieFactory and DVD Workshop since versions 1 not to mention Cool360, Photo Explorer etc. etc.

Not all were perfect, but as noted above no software ever is and I did a lot of very good work with them if I say so myself. Any annoyances were vastly overwhelmed by how well Ulead products interplay with each other, especially now with MSPro 7.3, DVD Workshop 2, Cool3D Production Studio and PhotoImpact 10.

If Ulead Sucks thinks Ulead products have problems I could tell him chapter and verse about my experiences with Adobe Premiere since version 5 (have to use it with my RT.X100).

Those Premiere experiences were some MAJOR headaches, and they continue with Premiere Pro, so you can imagine my amusement when a certain person uses an Adobe logo in his anti-Ulead posts :-P

Ulead is quite good, overall

Post by Michael Pless »

Hi everyone,

I have to agree with the majority of the sentiments: Ulead does do a good job with its software.

It seems to me there are comparatively few patches released, which is a sign of good beta testing. PhotoImpact is a case in point, with few patches released, and often accompanied by enhancements.

I have VS6 (and looking hard at 9 as an upgrade); PI, Menu Applet, Cool 3D PS. I'm happy with all, though none are perfect.

Critcism: Ulead helpfiles are often a little thin, in my opinion. Though they're streets ahead of Adobe, where you need a reference card to understand what's being said, as the files refer to such-and-such icon, without any image to aid.

I've got Adobe Creative Suite, and their Web Pack. I use none as the Adobe way of life is just too hard to cope with. Ulead excels at ease of use - at times. InDesign has trouble with some tiff files; PageMaker has trouble with some jpeg files; both offer ease of use way below Serif PagePlus.

Anyway, the bottom line for me is that if I'm looking for applications, Ulead is higher on my list than Adobe, and not just because of price.

If only Ulead marketed a web authoring application...

Cheers,

Michael

i think this question is very valid.

it doesnt muddy the water as an ealier postee said!

Informed discussion can in the end say whether peope think this is a god product.

Also it will stop someone wasting money on a product that doesnt meet their needs.

On the whole i was impressed with VS7, DVD WS1.3, Cool 3d and cool 3d pro studio.

I was not impressed with VS8 due to the myriad of problems it had!

VS9 i have to say is what VS8 should have been although i have a few concerns over it at!

DVD ws2 was totally missold and has compatability issues with VS9 media i have found.

You could always go to Pinnacle and have a laugh at the pickle they have got themselves into over VS9 +! I had it as a trial version what a heap of s*it! but Ulead vs8 was no better!
