I have updated my vs11+ software with the 11/06 and 11/08/2007 releases. Now, there is a 12/5/2007 release, Hot Fix 01. Before installing the Hot Fix, the instructions state that the VS11+ files and folders should be "manually removed." Does this mean to just delete the VS folder, not uninstall the program? Thanks for your help.

If you read the notes to the Hot Fix, you would have seen that it is ONLY applied in one specific circumstance relating to the initial installation of VS11. The fault in question does not allow the full installation of VS 11 in the first place. So obviously if you have managed to install not only VS11+ but also the two other updates of 6 and 8 November, you do NOT need to install the Hot Fix...
