No Capture sound
When I capture video from a VCR connected to my AverTV PCI-E Combo card I do not get any audio. I have tried connecting the audio input to both the onboard audio connector and also the audio connector on the tuner card but neither one works. I installed the CyberLink Power Producer product and it does work, this verifies that my hardware is working correctly. The difference is that the Cyberlink software provides me the ability to identify the input source with more detail than MovieMaker, however I like the features of MovieMaker better.

What version of DVD MovieFactory are you using? This can be important information. For example the analog to digital capture issue with VS11, which was not a problem with VS10..
In your other posts I read where you were using VS8, which is an older version, and much different than the recent ones. Also there are some versions that have SE at the end of the version number, for example DVD MovieFactory 5.0SE. The SE versions are bundled with hardware devices, and may have been tweaked by the hardware manufacturer to work with their hardware. Not all capture devices are compatible with all versions of software.
Some capture devices come with their own capture software programs. The devices may be proprietary, so that you must use the hardware vendor's software to capture. However once you have the video on your PC you can then choose the editing and DVD authoring program to use.
Also what operating system are you running, XP, Win2k, or Vista?

Check the Windows Sound Control found in control Panel and check the Volume control for "Recording" - it defaults to the volume control for "playback"

I am running Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS and have downloaded the trial version of MovieFactory 6 Plus. The Cyberlink product I tested was also a trial version. Before I upgrade I want to make sure things work which is the purpose of the trial versions.
The directions shown in the "No Sound" topic link provided are for XP. I looked for something simular but did not find anything. My sound is the standard Realtec 'AC97 found on many of the older motherboards.

In Vista (I have Home Premium) go to the Control Panel, then click on the Hardware and Sound. Once that opens then locate the Sound (has a speaker icon), section, and press Manage audio devices.
You can also check the Adjust System Volume.
My Vista machine (laptop) uses Conextant Audio, whereas my desktop uses Realtek AC97. With either I don't have any sound issues using DVDMF6.

The only device listed under manage audio devices is microphone and that is the connector which the audio cable is connected. However within MF6 when I go to select audio and video sources the audio option is grayed out not allowing me to select anything.

An audio line in, should never be connected to the microphone in jack. There should be a line-in jack for this. My laptop does not have a line-in, only a microphone. So I'm not able to record audio from other devices. This could be the reason why you're not getting any audio. MF uses the Line-in audio from your system if you're capturing using a setup similar to yours. The composite cables, which there should be 3, 1-yellow for video data, 2-red and white, for stereo audio, or one that has a stereo jack. This carries just the audio. The microphone is used for just that, recording narration. This is not activated until you press the record button to record your audio narration.
Do you have the capability of adding a sound card to your PC? For example an empty PCI card slot? If so this may be needed, so that you can plug the audio line into it.
If your machine has a line-in jack, then it should show up in the control panel. My desktop PC running XP Home, does have line-in capability. So in the audio properties I can adjust the volume for the Line-in.
