Hello everybody,
My problem is probably easy to solve, but I've lost my patience.
Tell me, why Edit Room is inactive (grey).
Is it possible to have this situation after adding m2ts files to my Library ?
please, help me

Yes it should be possible, however only if you have purchased and installed the DVDMF6+ HD Power Pack.

it's me again.
Does it mean, that this tandem is useless for editing HD contents imported via "add video file" option ?
Hi sjj1805
on video tutorial I can see somethig differentsjj1805 wrote:Edit room only becomes active when you have imported a video into MovieFactory.
Hi,
I've found that Movie Factory 6 standard or Plus or even with the HD Pack installed will not EDIT Transport Stream Video.
It has to be in PS (program stream) format.
To check if the video is in TS format right click on it and select "Media Properties"
In MF6 it is possible to make your TS format video PS format for editing.
Make a template under "Make Movie Manager" or similar wording & then export the video as PS format. (I believe this will work).
If you purchase MF7Pro you can edit TS format video files, SD or HD.
M2TS video files are usually in the TS format, such as an AVCHD or Blu-Ray Disk, AVCHD cams etc.. To edit them in MF6+ you have to convert them to PS format.
I'll have to work with MF6+ again to post details how to convert your TS Videos to PS video, or you can just upgrade to MF7Pro which is a pretty nice program. I remember there is something you have to do in MF6+ to convert from TS to PS format, otherwise MF6+ will keep them still in the TS format.
Please post the properties of your source videos, whether they are Mpeg2 or AVC/H264 videos.
Right click on the video & select "Media Properties" or click on the "I" Icon to the left of the timeline to read the files video/audio properties.

Hi etech6355,
first of all thanks a lot for quick answer, unfortunately my nightmares came true.
My video format is H.264
Only one thing what I am able to do is cutting or multitrimming those files.
I cannot merge them or make effects (I mean fading between scenes).
Tell me if MF7 always renders m2ts files after editing ?
I wonder maybe the best solution is to prepare edition in any loseless program (like Pixela Image Mixer included to my camera) and use MF6+ only for authoring ?
anyway let me know how to convert TS to PS format in detail
sorry for my English

You should post what video camcorder your using, they all have different quirks......
To start, we don't know what your playback device is (blu-ray player / PS3, HD-DVD, standard dvd player, computer only etc). Also we don't know how powerful your computer system is because avc/h264 video requires a fast computer.
It's hard to recommend a program depending on your computer spec's.
I suggest to download the trial version of MF7Pro And/Or VS_Pro_X2.
Both of those programs will be able to edit your avc/h264 video files.
VS_Pro_X2 is geared for editing and also includes a burning module similar to MF6+ & MF7Pro.
Both of those programs can also import avc/h264 video(s) that are on disk.
Since your posting M2TS I'm taking for granted your AVCHD cam writes to a mini-dvd? Otherwise memory cards or harddisk AVCHD cams may use a different container (MTS etc)
.
So, I'll post how to make a dvd-compliant mpeg2 video file that you can use to make dvd's. The dvd's will be of high quality because your source videos are high definition.
I have to assume you recorded in standard avchd mode and not 24P. So the properties of your source avc/h264 videos should be 1440x1080 Upper_Field_First 16:9 - 15000kbs variable bit rate, Dolby 5.1 Audio @ 448kbs
Under MF Preferences (F6 HotKey) make sure to select "BEST" as the sampling quality, the default is "GOOD"
Goto MF Project Settings under the "GEAR" Icon: GEAR -> Change Mpeg Settings -> Customize
Suggestions for High Quality DVD's made from AVCHD Source Videos:
Framesize = 720x480 (NTSC) / 720x576 (PAL)
FrameRate = 29.97 (NTSC) / 25 (PAL)
Fielding = Upper Field First
Aspect Ratio = 16:9
Compression/Quality = 100%
Video Bit Rate = Variable 9000kbs - 9500kbs
Audio = Dolby 5.1 @ 448kbs
NOTE: Some older dvd players may have problems playing back video encoded at high video bit rates, use standard quality template instead (below)
Save's time if you make a custom template using the above settings for NTSC. under "Movie Templates" Then under the GEAR Icon you click on "Change Mpeg Settings" and select your custom template.
I usually suggest to burn a DVD-R disk at 4X speed first. If they play properly then increase the burning speed higher if you like, 4X is a good starting point.
Suggestions for Standard Quality DVD's made from AVCHD Source Videos:
Framesize = 720x480 (NTSC) / 720x576 (PAL)
FrameRate = 29.97 (NTSC) / 25 (PAL)
Fielding = Upper Field First
Aspect Ratio = 16:9
Compression/Quality = 100%
Video Bit Rate = Variable 6500kbs
Audio = Dolby 5.1 @ 448kbs
Believe it or not making a "High Quality" DVD (9000kbs-9500kbs) and playing it back in a dvd player that performs up-converting the dvd to playback on a HDTV looks excellent.
The procedure to make high definition video(s) is the same as making dvd's (Mpeg2 Video) with the exception that you use High Definition Video/Audio Parameters.

thank you a lot for your answer etech6355
sorry, I completely forgot about information what I use.
My camcorder is Canon HF100, I recorded in FXP mode what means 1920x1080 resolution with maximum coding speed 17Mb/s VBR.
It is recorded to SDHC card.
Usually I use 50i mode (sometimes 25p).
My player is PS3.
My computer:
proc Core2Duo E8400 3 Ghz
4 GB RAM (800 MHz)
2 WD disks 400 GB 7200 rpm (RAID 0)
Mainboard Asus P5-KE
First my mistake is that my camera records in mts container not m2ts.
I will take both trials, but my question is still timely: do they render original files (mts) during editing ?
