Videos cut off

This should be an easy one... but for the life of me, I can't figur it out. I have done a couple videos and a video of pictures. THey look good in ULEAD but when burn them to DVD, the videos get cut off on the top and bottom. I am using 4:3 aspect. Am I a missing a setting to 'auto-fit' the videos/pictures into 4:3 aspect, keeping the original video/picture radio/aspect? (And as you may have guessed, when I play the DVD on my PC, it displays okay)
Thanks in advance,
John

When you work on a project, do you check the box for "use tv safe area"?

All "older" TVs cut off some of the picture around all 4 sides. If you keep your titles within the title-safe area they should not be cut off.
If you have a newer LCD or plasma TV you should be able to see most, if not all, of the picture.

I have not used the "use tv safe area"... Where is tha check box? I've seen where you can set the tv safe area ( as a percentage) when you are building menus... but this is just for placing your menu objects in a 'safe zone' so they will show up on the tv. Is there a check box where you can actually set the entire video to 'use tv safe area'?
By the way, didn't mention it, I am using Video Studio 11.5.0157.1 Plus. I have a projection tv which is dated back maybe 5 or 6 years. I really was hoping to get the videos to fully appear regardless of the age of the tv...

After searching for 'use tv safe area' I see this is a common question. Sorry to clutter the forum with yet another question that was already asked.
It's quite a bummer... didn't realize 'overscan' at the time I put this all together. I guess it's back to the editing room...
Thanks,
John

I believe the title-safe area is on by default. If you go to the Title tab and make a title is there a box, defined by a thin white line, on the screen?

To turn on the title-safe area, go to File > Preferences and on the General tab make sure Display Title Safe Area in Preview Window is checked.

And I'm afraid that it is normally not just back to the editing room, but to the very beginning of the process -- the actual filming! Overscan is something you always have to bear in mind when filming. So if you are filming something that it will be important to see everything of, always mentally make sure you have plenty of room above and below it to compensate for the 10% or whatever which is not going to display in the final DVD...
