When I import a mpeg I cant play it

Post by fallyhag »

I have used Videoredo to create an mpeg but when I insert it into my timeline it goes in OK but I cant play or trim it. It is like it is not there even though I can see it.

It has worked before so I suspect something is playing with it. I have tried a uninstall followed by an install but no luck.

Advice please? Thanks.

MF version 3.0
Win XP
Athlon 800
Lots of HDD
Lots of RAM

I have tried to import normal mpg files too and they appear with a black screen too.

I get the thumbnail image on the timeline and when I double click it the new window opens and plays the file. But when I leave it on the timeline and try to view it on the monitor above the timeline all I get is a blank screen.

Can anyone help me? Please!!!!!!!!

It does seem like noone is out there, sometimes, doesn't it. I can't help you solve your problem, but I can tell you I've had the same problem at times and don't know what causes it. When I try to import video segments from a DVD folder created on my hard drive, it will import the video and I can see it, but when I try to play or edit it, nothing happens. It won't play.

I can click on the imported video segment (in its explorer folder) and it will open in Windows Media Player and play, but it won't play in MF. I've also had some files that I import that do play, so it isn't something that always happens.

I suspect it is a bug that they will have to fix at some time...I hope!

Since the Ulead forum seems as empty and without answers as my 99 year old granny I just decided to start deleting the world and see what would happen.

My suspicion was that Pinnacle Studio was conflicting so that came off. I then took off MF complete and then rebooted my PC.

After the reboot I then re-installed the MF and it all worked again. I could see my video clips. I havent had time to do a test run yet but I will let you know if it has resolved my probelm.

Thanks for the reply "JoReneA". It was nice to hear from at least one person :)

I am a little unhappy that the official member Tech Support still havent answered me yet!!! But after paying money for their software I will be pestering them for a response. Has anyone else been ignored by their support team?

It took a month for me to get a useless response from Ulead Tech Support.

Thats the problem with poor response times. You wait that long for an answer just to read some lame explanation of something you have already tried.

But I will use this as a test case to see how good their customer support is. Watch this space.

Over the last month I have used the web tech support request at least 6 or 7 times. I have only gotten a response twice. The first took a couple weeks, then I had no response at all on the next 4 or 5. The last request was answered quickly, but their suggestion to install a "bug fix" did nothing to solve the problem I had.

I wouldn't depend on them and would probably not purchase another program from them until things get better on support.
