I'm currently trialing MF6. One of the key features I'm interested in is how easy the product is for customising the menus and specificly creating my own templates.
I understand that only three templates are provided in the trial version - that in itself is not a problem as I want to create my own templates and that is what I need to check I can do before committing. I'm having a lot of trouble in editing / creating my own templates.
For example, how do I start with a simple blank menu to create my own template? Starting with one of the example templates how do I remove elements - I haven't found any way to delete the balloon in the party style template. Is it possible to have more than 4 thumbnails? What is the maximum? Is the only way to have a simple background to create a single colour JPG and use that as the background?
And most importantly how do I save my own templates? The Add to menu template is greyed out.
Thanks for any help with this.

Using MovieFactory (all versions) alone you cannot create a new DVD Menu from a blank screen - to do so you need to use PhotoImpact
What you can do with MovieFactory is make modifications to existing templates - there are several supplied in the full version. You are able to save those modified templates - that currently greyed out option will activate when you make modifications.
Modifications that are possible using MovieFactory are re-positioning / resizing / hiding things. In addition to the pre-defined menus there is an "Advanced" tab where you can select various other sets of navigation buttons, frames and layouts.
