Hello All,
Love the Forum. Often read for no other reason than to learn.Recent problem that I find addressed but don't think responses are on target.Using VideoStudio 9 2 yrs but only now have gotten failure to burn data error.Forum responses indicate problem is with burners but find can burn my VS9 DVD images w/Nero as well as burn direct to disc other programs: WinDVD Creator, Pinnacle Studio 8, Presto VideoWorks & Ulead MovieFactory.Since I cannot burn project through VS9 only, thinking problem is software.Have 2 Sony DVD burners & drivers are up to date.Haven't flashed firmware as no problems burning in other programs & nervous about all firmware updates. Not overly skilled here but been using various programs to teach myself video creation for the past 7 years or so & have settled on VideoStudio as favorite.Any solutions that are software rather than hardware related? Thanks.

Since it last worked have you installed or uninstalled anything?
If so, then you could try system restore to go back to the time when it did work.
I found nero on my pc interfered with my burning of dvds from Ulead workshop, in particular people have trouble if they have the packet writing part installed of most burning apps.

I doubt the game will have any effect on things, a slight chance the back up program might, a firmware update will have no effect either because if you can burn your discs with other programs it is not a disc-v-burner compatability issue either.
What normally messes things up is having installed on your computer something termed "packet writing software" - this type of software enables you to effectively use a CD/DVD disc much like a hard drive. You can drag and drop files onto the disc from windows explorer and in some cases save files directly to the disc such as a word document or text file.
Please view:
CD/DVD burning and playback issues and look for the bit about packet writing software.

Hi, Thanks for the tip on packet writing software.I've read the article you mentioned & I don't think I have any running on a regular basis. I checked my systray & found none & used task manager to end all but necessary processes. Is there somewhere else I should be looking? I don't use Nero that often but would rather not uninstall it permanently. Use Cybersonic programs for burning CDs generally & don't see any indication that it might be loading itself in at boot start. Will test again this evening & have decided to eliminate all programs, including virus, system restore, etc. but again, DVD burning only seems to fail from VS9. Will keep you posted. Thanks for your effort.

You don't have to uninstall Nero, but you should uninstall Nero's InCD if you have it. Roxio is another common offender.
