In short, is there a way to make a single channel audio 'split' into 2 channels so that my video sounds right coming out of 2 speakers?

I shot my daughters wedding with 2 camcorders... one with an external microphone (that got single channel audio) and another one that I used the built in microphone (and it got 2 channel audio)! So of course when I use footage from both cameras - the sound comes out of one speaker sometimes and comes out louder from two speakers at other times in my final edited video. I would like for the audio to sound right and have already split the audio in order to raise the volume on the single channel video clips. Bottom line it still sounds different coming out of my left speaker THEN out of BOTH speakers at different times.

You don't say which version of VS you are using. But if it is VS 10 or 11, and you are in Audio view, then in the middle right of the screen, you will have two tabs: Attribute and Surround Sound Mixer. The Attribute is the one you choose. And below the clock and volume level little windows is a box 'Duplicate Audio Channel', with a further choice, when you tick the box, of left or right channel.

There is a button also to 'duplicate audio channel' usually reserved for creating dual channels from a single one. You'll find this when you go to Audio View

This should balance out the audio issues but like mentioned above you can also make adjustments for finer tuning

I do all of my sound editing in a FREE audio editor and then import it into VideoStudio.
