I am getting the same problem with my trial (windowsxp professional). I can capture OK with my old version VS6 which my capture device came bundled with. It does seam that if you buy a bundled version your OK but if you decide to upgrade software only you have to re-purchase new devices. But in saying that I was having the same problem with Nero 7 which I did not like.
I like version 11 but have been having problems with the trial so I'm not going to activate but purchase disc.

I have to tell you that your devices only work with the software they came with. Adstech is notoriously a company which makes wonderful capture devices, but have it tweaked to only work with the software they provide. Yes, I know you are going to say that it comes with VS. But it also comes with a very good capture program called CapWiz. So you use that to capture with, and open the captured files in VS (any edition) for editing. I am afraid that AdsTech does NOT share their tech secrets with the software manufacturers, so you have to use their software for capture...

No -- what you said is that it worked with VS 9 SE DVD, which is a completely different version of Video Studio. What I was trying to say was that Adstech tweaks other software to work with their hardware, including in the bad old days, Video Studio.
Primarily, to capture, you should use their CapWiz program or else the version of VS which came with the device. I repeat, they do not share their tech secrets with Corel/Ulead, so later versions of VS do NOT work to capture from those devices.

And I can only repeat that you don't use Video Studio to capture from the Adstech device. You use the Adstech capture software, CapWiz, which should have come with the device. You capture with that. The device uses its hardware encoding chip to convert the video to DVD-compatible mpeg-2 which is sent to the computer. And you open that mpeg-2 in Video Studio for editing.
If you could capture previously with VS9 SE DVD, that indicates that, as I had suggested, it was tweaked by Adstech. If it no longer works that way, it is possible that installing VS 11 trial version, it has changed one of the tweaked files with a VS11 one so that VS 9 no longer works. The only way you could resolve that would be to reinstall VS 9.
But as far as I am aware, VS 11, and previous versions of VS not tweaked by Adstech, cannot be used for capture from the DX2. Only editing the files captured using CapWiz.

As I said on a previous posting for this subject matter I was getting the same device problem and others with Nero 7. But Nero unlike Corel/Ulead do give you a list of compatable devises that have been tried/tested with there software. PERHAPSE COREL SHOULD TAKE NOTICE.

They may or they may not take notice. As far as we are aware, no Corel employee visits any of these forums on a regular basis, if at all. The rest of us are just users like you who volunteer to help out...
