I found no particular group for photo album 6
When opening PA 6, on the left site, the Windows Explorer type window, I see My COMPUTER but when I click it, I do not see the C:, E: or F drive. It will only let me look at my documents. I can look at the drives manually using the menu but I know they should be showing up on my screen in this software. ANyone have an idea what has happened all of a sudden?

Welcome to the forums,
Has there been a Windows update? What version of Windows are you running? According to the System Requirements, it will run on WinXP or Win2k. You need to install the Service Pack for PA6 though. Since it does list Vista as an OS Requirement, I would suspect that it may not be certified to work on Vista.
If you are running it on Vista, try right-clicking the desktop shortcut, selecting Properties, then on the Compatibility tab, check the option to run it under compatibility mode for WinXP.
I don't have PA6, however looking at it on Corel's website, it appears similar to Corel Media One. Look for a Browse more folders. In Media One clicking on the Plus ( + ) beside it opens a browse window.

If PA6 has this, then that is the normal and proper way for the program to function..
That tells me that it did work previously, and now it does not. So we need to start looking at what has changed since the last time it did work properly.ANyone have an idea what has happened all of a sudden?

I have Photo Album 6.4 and it appears the updates are up to date.
I am not using Vista but XP.
I know that this was working before but not now.
I do not have the browse more folders options.
It only sees part of the C: drive.
Does not see the E: and F: at all now.
Have few security updates and hot fix for xp from 8/19. Other than that, nothing has changed. I find this very strange. Even in the old JASC software, I now get the same result.

Perhaps your C drive has some corruption. Try running chkdsk on your drives.davidpjr1 wrote:I have Photo Album 6.4 and it appears the updates are up to date.

I wonder if it is a Windows XP Security setting preventing you from accessing these drives/folders. do you have XP Home or XP Professional?
Are you logged onto Windows with a standard user account or as an Administrator. Using Windows Explorer locate a file/folder that you cannot access with Photo Album.
1. Does Windows Explorer allow you to view and open any files at that location?
2. If you're using XP Pro, right click and select "Properties" then check the Security Tab and check the Security settings.
(If you do not see the security tab you have to disable "simple file sharing")

windows Xp and I too wonder if some strange windows security setting is doing this.
From Photo Album. I can open up the E: (secondary) drive.
From Windows Explorer, I can open E: and see E: in the tree list under My Computer.
However, the Tree list in Photo, still will not show all contents of C: or E: unless I specifically go to that location.
I am set to Share. I see no security settings on the E: drive. I login as Admin.
THis is very strange.
Thank you.

Download and install subinacl.exe.
Create a file called reset.cmd with Notepad. Copy the text below into the file reset.cmd and run reset.cmd with administrative rights (it may take a LONG time):
cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools"
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %windir%*.* /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
Now see if your program works correctly.

sjj1805, found a work around. Just decided to created new folders in my favorites and designate C: and E and F drive as favorites.
Oddly, I loaded the software on another of my PC's and did not have this problem. SO, something is still not letting this software see those drives on normal view.... very odd.
