When you capture to VideoStudio from a mini dv tape, what is the file extension of the captured file? I am currently waiting for a copy of VS 11.5 Plus coming from Amazon.com

If you capture to the Mini-DV native format, it would be DV (Digital Video) which uses the AVI container. So the video file would have the avi extension. VS uses a bizarre naming convention such as 050324.avi. Capturing using firewire is actually a real time transfer of data. There is no encoding going on. There are 2 "flavors" of DV, Type-1 and Type-2. Most people have better luck using Type-1, and VS seems to get along better with Type-1.
