Project duration not reducing upon deleting clips from timel

Hi,

I am a new VS11+ user and spent a better part of the day trying to find an answer to this issue -- but no luck.

I am creating a standard DVD from video clips (AVHCD) captured on my Canon HG-10 camcorder. I created a project using the Movie Wizard, added several clips to the timeline and then saved the project. The Burn-module inidicated that I was over the 4.3 GB limit -- so I opened the project using the VS11 editor and deleted some clips from the timeline (these clips were at the end of the timeline). However, the project duration has not changed from its original duration (1h 24 m) -- the reduced duration after removing the clips should be 1h 08m -- after going back to the Create-disc menu, the size still greater than what the DVD format will support.

Is there a way to get the project duration reduced when clips are removed from the timeline?

I have never used the ozard..but it's worth opening the project in time line view incase the wizard inserted a music track that didn't auto shrink when you removed the clips at the end.

Just a guess there but it's the only thing I could think of

Choose for the expanded time-line. Probably a sound file or another clip in another track towards the end.

Rather than delete clips, alter the bit rates.

If, after deleting the clips, you did not save your project, then re-opened the burning module, the original project, at its original size, would be used...

When you use the Movie Wizard, a "the end" title is added at the end of your clips. This would be in the title track. Sometimes there are things in the overlay track as well. If you delete clips (without ripple editing) it leaves the title ending clip beyond the last video clip. Make sure you are in timeline mode and scroll out past your last clip and you will probably see something in the title track and/or overlay track. Just delete that or move it to the end of your video clips.

Thanks to all who replied. The culprit was music clips added by the wizard which were not deleted when I deleted the Video clips. I was in Storyboard view earlier - so could not see the music clips -- switching to timeline view showed them! After that it was a simple matter of deleting the clips. And there was an end clip as well that I removed. Doing this resulted in project size coming down as expected.
