Ulead movie studio 11 & Cannon HG10

Post by katiej »

I am completely new at video editing and am using the trial version of Ulead Movie Studio 11. I am doing a project in which I am interviewing a lot of people with my Canon HG 10 camcorder. I need to be able to download what is on my camcorder to an external hard drive (for storage)until I am ready to work with the files in Ulead movie studio 11. I just tried to import files from my computer hard drive to Ulead and Ulead is saying that it can't open the files. I need to know how to access the files that I have sent to my coputer hard drive from my camcorder and import them to Ulead. Isn't this possible? HELP! Thanks

You say you are using Video Studio 11. If it is the plain, vanilla VS11 without the PLUS in the title, then you won't be able to process the AVCHD video from your camera. You have to have VS11 PLUS, and upgrade that (with the 6 November 2007 patch and 8 November Power Pack) to VS 11.5 PLUS. Then you should be able to import your AVCHD.

You also need to fill in the System button (in your Profile). AVCHD is just about the most demanding of all video formats on computer resources. You need a pretty powerful computer to be able to edit it. Even on my Core 2 Quad 6600, playback while editing can be jerky. And you will need at least a Core 2 Duo even to be able to play AVCHD smoothly once it is edited.
