I've been cropping some photos recently in XI. I notice that at times a couple of unusual behaviors occur with the tool. Sometimes I will set it (say 6x4 for example) and suddenly the cropping area "collapses." Very annoying when I am "almost there" and have to start the crop from scratch.
Also, I noted that sometimes if I drag a handle the wrong way (that seems to be it) the size and maintain aspect ratio seem to change. So, if I was working on a 4x6, suddenly it will say "free form."
Am I doing something wrong? Is this a bug? Anyone else have problems like this?
TIA
Cropping tool?

Mmm, haven't really seen that myself, although sometimes those fiddly little handles are a bit hard to grab and one click in the wrong place will start a new freeform crop.
TBH I tend to never use the crop tool anyway. I find using selections (then Image->Crop to Selection) is more flexible, especially seeing as how you can edit selections directly as if they were a layer, save them for later re-use, and so forth.
