VS9 Crashing, no support for trial

Recently downloaded VS 9 trial, tried capturing Video through IEEE 1394 had always problems error message appearing "vstudio.dat.exe" generated an error. Now this error is either going away by reinstallation and coming back again after one or 2 times of restarting the SW or it goes away when you try the DV Quick scan. Had no problems what so ever with VS 8 before was planning to buy it when VS 9 appeared ( better features but full of bugs).

I tried calling support Ulead useless. (I am not sure why we should be paying to buy their unsupported products) PC has Win 2000 SP4 and Sony TRV 460 camera.

Is there any fix for this problem. I have seen some threads about similar problems but no fix was mentioned though. Has any one found a fix for this problem?

why don't you capture your footage via a dedicated dv program and then input your film in to VS9?

do a google....under dv capture programs..lots of good free ones

Yes, you can find numerous threads reporting the same problems with Ulead support even if you have the full registered version you paid for.
