Hi everyone

Whenever I manipulate a clip using colour correction and generally add something like that like adjusting brightness it makes the clip go choppy, the data rate slows down any ideas on why it does this and any solutions?

Thanks

First of all you don't give us much to go on!
Go here http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8959
and see the kind of info we need to be able to give a meaningful response.

The short answer is that the program has to apply filters to every individual frame "on the fly" and this requires a lot of horsepower. If the original footage is in a heavily compressed format like MPEG2 then you will get choppy preview. This will not affect the final output once you render ot a new file.

Lance is correct. The more effects you have applied to a clip, especially video filters, the slower or choppier your playback will be.

You can go to File > Preferences and change your Instant Playback to HQ. This will cause VS to render a temp file, and your project will play back in high quality with (hopefully) no sluggishness.

If you still have problems it could be due to the type of clips being used. If that is the case more info will be needed, as Lance pointed out.

Hi guys and thanks for the advice

I have indeed been using instant playback in my preview window and when previewed in HQ it plays back fine.
