When click "Share" --> Create disc, the preview screen is black. I cannot add/edit Chapters by dragging the jog bar. And I'm also having a problem previewing my projects before burning to burning to DVD. When I press the play button, the preview screen is black. Other than this, everything works well.
Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

Before selecting share, create disc
Did you select share, create video file - then create a MPEG file?

having a problem adding/editing chapter and previewing my pr
Thank you very much for your quick reply.
I always select share, create disc, and then add/edit Chapters by dragging the jog bar. I can play previewing before burning to DVD in my other computer (Video Studio 11.5Plus, Windows vista home premium). It works perfectly.
I just installed VS11.5 on this new computer, and I¡¦m now having a problem adding/editing chapter and previewing my projects before burning to DVD. What might be wrong with this pc or installation?

I followed your advice to test starting with a small size video clip. I clicked "Share" --> create video file - then create a MPEG file. Then I started a new empty project and go to the share tab and "Share" --> Create disc, and add the video file I just created. I¡¦m still having the same problem adding/editing chapter and previewing my projects before burning to DVD. It is unlikely to be work flow issue.

It has become almost a mantra with me over the past couple of months to suggest people first go to the Microsoft DirectX website and download the latest update patch. The current one is dated June 2008 and can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
Note that it updates both DirectX 9.0c (XP) and 10 (Vista). The number of your DirectX installation will not change, but the patch gives extra functionality in a number of areas and corrects other faults in VS11 in particular which appear linked to Windows updates. The menu preview and associated things like chapter creation problems seem to be amongst them.
Note that DirectX is not included in the usual pattern of Windows automatic updates. It has to be done every so often by the user manually. So unless you have recently done this, you are probably still using the original, non-updated version of DirectX which came with your computer.
