Gang,

I created two VSP files for a recital. One is 21,000 kb's and the other about 10.8 kbs. The length of the 1st video is about 49 min and the second is 52 min giving me about 1 hr and 45 min of video.

I cant seem to combine the vsp files and create one to burn as a DVD. I have done this before in the past. Em I missing something here?

Or should I create an MPEG2 NTSC on my PC of both ,then combine them to make a DVD?

Any help would be apperciated.

You have a number of options. Personally, I would opt for your second suggestion -- to convert the projects to mpeg-2 and burn those to DVD.

The first thing you have to realise is that .vsp files are NOT video files. They are Video Studio Project (VSP) files which are small text files that are a bit like a road map. They tell Video Studio what video files are included in a project, where they are located, and what editing has been done to them; plus information such as transitions and music added etc.

That being said, they *can* be used in a way similar to a video but only within Video Studio (and Movie Factory). So one alternative is to open the burning module (Share > Create Disc > DVD) and insert both project .vsp files in the burning timeline, build a menu and burn. Be warned, though, that the necessary conversion of those .vsp files to DVD-compatible mpeg-2 will occur as part of the burning process, and will take some time. Note also that this process seems to cause problems for a lot of users, and converting the projects to mpeg-2 while still in the Editor (Share > Create Video File > DVD) is the preferred option for this.

Similarly, if you have one project file open in the Editor timeline, you can then drop in the second project .vsp file into the timeline beside it, and then render all this into one single mpeg-2.

If you Share Create Video File¡XDVD then VS will use 8000 Kbps creating total files larger than 4.3 Gb
These will be too large to fit to disc. (unless you have duel layer)???
You should render using about 5000kbps. You may have to use the ¡¥Custom¡¦ option.
Or first create a template using Make Movie Manager.

use your total length 1 hr 45 minutes in the calculators.

Knowing your original/source video properties will help in deciding your render properties.
This is important especially if they are Mpeg files

Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties.

What are they.

If using more than one type, repeat for each.
