Preview with audio removed in V11?

Post by deanparkr »

Hi,

I have purchased a Capture card which came with VS 8 which works perfectly. When I previewed the video under the "capture" screen it also played the sound.

Since I have Vista I was thinking of upgrading to version 11 so I downloaded the trial version.. however... now under the capture tab it shows the video but no sound?

Ive looked around and there doesnt seem to be an option to enable this?

Does anyone know if this can be enabled with v11?

Thanks! :D

Hello, Dean and welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, we are going to need a bit more information before anyone can help. First, read the top sticky post on this Board, the one labelled ' Please Read This Before Posting!' and get back to us with the information requested.

In addition, within Video Studio, right click on one of the captured files and copy down ALL its properties here please. In particular, we need to know the audio properties of the captured file. It is possible that it is Dolby audio and the trial versions do not contain the Dolby codec for license payment reasons.

Finally, we definitely need to know exactly which make and model of capture card you have. Some (many?) are made by manufacturers who tweak the software they provide (including older versions of Video Studio) so that they work with their hardware. However, they don't share the tweaking secrets with the software manufacturers so that more recent versions of the software will not work properly or at all with the hardware.

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply!

I have an EasyCap card connecting to my Nintendo Wii via Composite. It captures video and sound fine. Infact everything is dandy on the capture side of things.

Its just I like to play my Wii via the "preview" box under the capture tab. in VS8 I would hit full screen and I could play.

This is the option I had in VS8:

But the tickbox is missing in VS11.. any ideas where I could find that same option?

Not at my own machine right now so cannot check for the item you mentioned. However I have two points to make,

Please complete this --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

Secondly your copy of VideoStudio 8 came with the capture device.
This means it was a SE (Special Edition) version which was tweaked by the hardware Company (Not Ulead - now Corel) so that it would work with that particular item of hardware. It is possible that is the reason why you were able to capture sound with VS8 but not VS11.

Hi,

Ive filled in the system info.

Looks like you could be right my V8 software does have "SE" at the end.

However, I have got it to work fine in Nero and "Blaze" so I guess I can use one of them should I not be able to do this through V11. Seems strange V11 doesnt do this "out of the box" say.
