Does not save NEW template

Post by aeadviser »

New to Video Studio. I am trying to create a new template. Steps are:

1) click on Tools > Make Movie Templates Manager
2) click on New
3) select format (I have tried several)
4) add Template Name and click on OK
5) make any changes under General and Compression tabs, keeping same template name
6) click on OK
7) new Template shows up in Make Movie Templates Manager, which I can edit again
8) I click on Close

This all seems to work OK except no where can I find the New template. It does not show up as available within the Make Movie Templates Manager if again opened or under Share. Seems like not being saved.

I have also tried to copy template from an existing clip, seems to work but again is not being saved.

Using:
Video Studio 11.5+
Used wmv and m2t as input
Tried before and after moving clip to Timeline
Project Properties: MPEG

thanks for any help.

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

A few users have reported this problem though it works perfectly on the various computers I have installed it on, XP and also Vista Home Premium.
Have you tried using a Windows Administrator Account?

Operating system is Vista Home Premium and I was logged in as Administrator. I did update my profile.

Thanks for the very quick response! I am not sure what to try next?

As far as I can see you are doing everything correctly.
Please read through the following two posts just to make sure.

VS: Encoding in DivX format using Video Studio
and
09: VS 11/11.5: Encoding in Xvid MPEG-4

If as I suspect - your are doing it correctly - you might have to try re-installing the program.

The answer to your problem can be found at the end of this
post
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... +templates

I had the same problem. The Movietem.dat file where the template is
stored was set to Read Only, and thats why it won't save your templates.

You have to read carefully because the file can be in 2 different places.
But one of them will be set to "read only".

Hi

Someone else posted the same problem not so long ago, I couldn¡¦t remember the solution then, but knew there was an answer.

Thanks for the information,

Great! I made the MovieTem.Dat file NOT read only and this fixed the problem.

Thanks all for your help
