Can't edit .TS / .mp4 file with VS 11.5

Post by hhhgamewmx7 »

Hi. I have the Hauppauge HD PVR and have been struggling to find a way to edit the .TS files (1920x1080, H.264, AAC)

I recently bought VS 11.5 thinking this would help but it hasen't so far.

I am able to import the .TS file and slowly edit but the audio doesn't import with it.

I tried converting using the bundled mp4 box which converts the .TS file to a .mp4 file but I get a file mismatch error when trying to import into VS 11.5. I thought the program could edit .mp4 files?

If any of you have any suggestions, I will be very grateful.

I'm having the same problem. I captured a program with my HD PVR and was able to import, edit and burn a disk using the TB4YB version of video studio 11.

I then purchased VS+ 11.5 and installed it only to find that the same .TS file imports but has no audio.

I use HDTV to MPG utility to convert my .ts files so I can edit them in VS 11.5.

Thanks tyamada. When I try to convert using this tool, I get the following error message:

"Could not Find a Channel"

but no conversion.

I use a Dvico Fusion HDTV capture card to record my .ts files, haven't had the problem with the channel error except when I use files captured with a HD video camera.

Here is a link to the instructions, #5 if no channel info is available.

The problem is that software is for .ts files that contain mpeg-2 video. The HD PVR .ts files contain mpeg-4 video. Similar software that extracts the mp4 video won't import into VS 11.5 which makes no sense since you would think mp4 would be more compatible than a .ts file.

You might want to try Super C, here is a link:

I find it curious that I can import, edit and burn these HD PVR stored .ts files with VideoStudio 11 (or 11.5 without the PowerPack). This might be a solution except that VS 11 seems to be very buggy.

I don't understand this. Can you play the .ts files ok in VS with sound? What are the audio properties when you right click the .ts file in VS? Mine come up as none. Is there anything extra you did to get audio?

I can play, edit and burn Hauppauge HD PVR files in Visual Studio 11 (no upgrades or patches). They load very slowly and are likely to hang or crash during edit but this works. With 11.5 the files load quickly and sound is there in the preview (load files dialog), but once loaded there is no sound.

Sorry, I don't have the stripped version loaded so I can't check audio properties.

Just reloaded VisualStudio 11 without the power pack and loaded a .ts capture file. The Audio Properties are:

Audio Type: MPEG Audio Layer 0 Files
Total Samples: 172,628,629 Samples
Attributes: 48000 Hz, 16 bit Stereo
Layer: 0
Bit Rate: 199 kbps

So it would seems I can edit without with verison 11 and not 11.5? Ok, I will try and install my 11.5 version without the powerpack and see how it goes. Thanks.

Correct, although you may find it painful.

Another solution I've found is to convert the .TS file to a .wmv format using the ArcSoft Media Converter in TotalMedia Extreme. That too is painful since it took 12 hours and 22 minutes to convert a 1 hr capture.

I have not been able to get any of the converters suggested by tyamada to work on these files.

The only problem with that theory is that your version 11 only becomes version 11.5+ *with* the power pack...

And bleedingEdge, I have to say that I have never heard of 'mpeg audio layer 0' files. Layers 1 through to 4, yes; zero no... And a quick Google search didn't turn anything up either. So something sounds quite wrong to me right there...

Exactly what I'm saying. I originally tried this with the TBYB download of Version 11 and since if it works in 11, "of course it will work in 11.5."

I then purchased 11.5 only to find it ain't so. But, if I uninstall 11.5 and reinstall the base version (11.0.0157.0 Plus), both the video and audio are loaded into the VS editor and can be played, edited and burned.

Re: Layer 0 files... I have no idea. I am only reporting what was shown in the properties dialog when I right click on the clip.
