Hi
I do not have VS X2 only VS 10 as my latest version.
I am however running X2 trial on a new lap top. (only X2)
Quicktime nor Smartsound are NOT installed.
But they are now and Smartsound is working on the trial version.
This is what I did.
Using the VS 10 install disc I navigated to the Smartsound folder
VS 10 Disc/ Program/USV10/SmartSound/
Here I found two exe files.
1/ Quicktracks.exe
2/ Full Spectrum22k.exe
I double clicked the Quicktracks.exe and installed the Quicktracks plugin.
Started VS X2, the program requested Quicktime install.
This I did from the VS 10 Disc, under the Utilities folder.
Started VS X2 and the program tried to download sample clips from the internet, this was cancelled, there were no library files installed. Closed VS X2.
Again navigated the VS 10 Disc to the Smartsound folder and installed the Full Spectrum22k.exe
Now the auto music works ok.
As I said I do not have the X2 program, but assume there to be similar files as VS 10.

Navigate your install/extra content disc to locate the Smartsound folders.
When you are asked for the Smartsound Library CD insert your VS X2 disc. I suspect it¡¦s the Extra-Content disc that¡¦s required????????

I too do not have the Sampler 10. Doing a search of SmartSound's web site lead me to a special offer they had or have for music CDs.
Ken since you are not showing Full Spectrum with VS11.5+, it would seem that the Power Pack replaced the Full Spectrum with New Standard. However on both my machines, VS 11.5+ shows both. If the Power Pack replaces the SmartSound library, then on my laptop that also has the Vista patched VS10+ installed, the Full Spectrum must be from that.
I know that when you first launch VS, and launch the Auto Music (SmartSound), it searches for and adds the libraries found on your system. That's not to mention when you elect to rebuild them or migrate them...

I'm very grateful for everyone's input on this matter, as it further helps me to sort things out. Steve, I have now updated my system specs in my profile. It should prove to be useful in the future. Trevor, I bought the download version of VS Pro X2, and as such, I don't have the installation discs. But regardless, I'll check into my program files and see what I can dig out.

Not sure if I get the exact same download files as yourself but you should have one or more large "exe" files.
If you use Winzip you can extract the exe file to a hard drive folder.
This will then create several other sub-directories containing the various set up files. It is my normal practice to unzip the exe file and then save the unzipped files on a CD/DVD and also on my external USB Drive. I then run the setup program now found in those extracted directories rather than the original large "exe" file.
If you do the above you will find the particular file I mentioned
Utilities\Smartsound\New Standard 22k.exe

Ok, here's my little update for today. I found all the New Standard files on my system, they're all installed already. That's no surprise however, since I clearly recall having seen those during the installation of the VS Pro X2 Content Pack (which is indeed, like some of you suggested, the largest of the three downloaded setup files). Here's a snap shot of those files on my hard drive:

Furthermore, I also found the Quicktracks setup file which was used by the VS installation wizard, again like you said guys. As you can see in this other snap shot I took, the Full Spectrum library is totally missing from my download, but instead New Standard was wrongly included. Once again, no big surprise here.

Now, if the New Standard library files are already fully installed on my system, along with the Quicktracks plug-in and QuickTime, why on earth won't VS allow me to use them, and keeps telling me this?

If what I've learned so far is any indication, the reason would have to be simple enough. The reason is because VS is programmed to recognize the Full Spectrum library, not the New Standard library. Granted, some of you are using New Standard in VS11+ and VS Pro X2 without any problems, but I'll admit I'm at a complete loss in understanding how is this even possible in the first place. Regardless, I want a free library like the one I had in VS10+, it was so cool! Of course I could go on and buy a few nice packages from SmartSound and stop acting like such a baby, but I still want to get the default library dangit!
And you know what's funny? I'm not even starting to feel discouraged. I want my default library, no matter what! I shall prevail!

And what would happen if you burn those New Standard files onto a CD and inserted that CD when VS asks for it?
And what of your VS10 Full Spectrum library? Can you install that to X2?

Firstly - Full Spectrum / New Standard.
Previous versions of VideoStudio shipped with Full Spectrum.
VideoStudio X2 ships with New Standard.
Therefore if you only have VideoStudio X2 then you ONLY have New Standard. If you have previous versions of VideoStudio installed on your computer then you will have both.
Next - Thank you for your screen shots and as a result I am happy to say we can get your Smartsound working
Step 1.
Open VideoStudio and go to the Audio Tab and then select the Auto Music Tab.
Step 2.
Click the Smartsound Icon

Step 3
Click the Folders Tab and then Add Folders

Step 4.
Navigate to the location on your hard drive where the files ending in
blk ico sdi blx sdx
are located and add this location.
Navigate to the location on your hard drive where the files ending in
sds
are located and add this location.
Step 5.
Click the Libraries tab and check to see if they now read copied to hard drive.

If they do not then clixk the "About" tab and click the button "Rebuild Smartsound libraries"

Steve,
I got all excited when I read your post, and went on to try that right away for the *.sdx and *.sds files I have. But unfortunately, I get this message when trying to add my folders. And below is a snap shot of what my library looks like.

Any clue as to why VS keeps on thinking New Standard is actually a CD, when in fact I bought the ESD version?
Thanks for the tip and the detailed instructions!

Oops, I edited my previous post a bit too late. lol
Hmmm... lemme see... I found two:
"C:\ProgramData\SmartSound Software Inc\Libraries\New Standard.sdx"
and...
"C:\SmartSound Software\Quicktracks\Library" contains the *.sds files pictured in a previous post on this thread page.
Oh! And sure. Here...

Black Lab,
Thanks for the suggestion. Although Ken is probably right, I'm grateful for your help.
Steve,
My "Libraries" folder contains only a few sxl files and also a file called "New Standard 22k.sdx". Curiously, my "Sound Files" folder is empty. Wow, is that the problem then? Do you think I could simply copy my sds files (from my "Quicktracks" folder, pictured previously in this thread) into that "Sound Files" folder and expect it to work for VS?
Thanks again for all the help Steve, I truly appreciate it.
