Disabling
Did somebody experience the need for disabling virusscanners, network connections, sheduled or other running processes..when working with VS11?

It is generally accepted best practice among the video editing fraternity to have a system which is totally disconnected from the internet and, hence, does not need to run any background programs like virus scanners etc. in order to preserve all the system resource for the editing/rendering process.

Thanks sjj1805 . Looks interesting. Up to now, I have no specific problems, and a pretty fast PC, but when I feel I am limited with the standard HW profile, I certainly will go for your proposal. Up to now I will just disable my network connection, and my virusscanner when I want to "play" with VS11. Maybe one more question: would it be advisable for speed reasons, to change the default VS11 working folder location (C drive) where also the VS11 program is located, to another physical drive?

If it aint broke don't fix it.
The tweaks I list are for the benefit of
1. Users who are having problems which may be related to their computer and by stripping Windows down to its bare essentials removes conflicts that may be otherwise hard to find.
2. Enthusiasts who like to get their machine fine tuned to get it working to the best of its ability. Rather like taking a car to the garage for a service.
If you don't fall into one of the above two groups then you don't need to mess with your computers settings.

Special profile for VideoStudio
I used sjj1805's suggestion when using MediaStudio Pro on my old XP box and it worked great! Has anybody found similar instructions for VideoStudio 11.5 running under Vista?
Thanks
