Do not convert compliant MPEG (MF 7)
Do not convert compliant MPEG (MF 7)
Although I ticked the box (do not convert) MF7 starts to re-render the compliant MPEG file. Any one else the same experience?

Did you add or change anything in your project? If so it will re-render.

Black Lab is right....I only have MF6, and I've noticed that even the slightest little difference between the input file and the project settings, even a difference in bitrates, will initiate re-rendering. At least in MF6, when I have a file which perfectly matches my project settings, I can run the project off (I usually do an ISO file) in 15-20 minutes.

You are right Greg. The output settings must match the file settings EXACTLY for no re-rendering to take place.

For smart render, I think that the project settings can differ from those of the clips provided that the latter's properties are better than those of the project. No re-render will take place.
However, even if compliant, doing any cutting will result in a re-render. Not too sure why they haven¡¦t fixed this in MF7. To prevent this do a fast export of the edited video and re-import the resultant back into the project.

Hi,
I've read this thread a few times and it doesn't make any sense.
If MF is re-encoding your video then it's not compliant for the project.
Maybe a discussion on how the "Project Settings" work versus the
"Fast Export Project X Compliant" and also "Fast Export" features, and also including exporting your custom templates versus customized rendering.
But the first poster simply says MF is rendering his mpeg file, yet, no other descriptions of the actual mpeg file.

The "Project Settings" do not always have to equal your source videos, it depends. Generally that is a good rule of thumb, but MF will still smart-render your video and can also ignore your "Project Settings" depending on how your using it.

Try this, Under the "GEAR" Icon also check ON the "X-Disc" box.
The files may have something in them that MF considers non-compliant.
That should work if previous versions were not re-encoding the video(s).
If it doesn't then post the properties of your source video(s), because this is not happening on my machine.
I have both options checked ON under the "GEAR" Icon.

Great trick - I could have saved two nights of frustration if had known before that I have to check the "X-disc"-box as well !!etech6355 wrote:Try this, Under the "GEAR" Icon also check ON the "X-Disc" box.

In addition, if MF6+ considers the file including h.264-Video not to be compliant for not re-encoding, it will re-encode to MPEG2 even if your settings do match the original values of the videofile. I finally got it without re-encoding by first demuxing the .ts-file with tsMuxeR and then joining the video- and the audio-stream again with tsMuxeR - with all settings unchanged in tsMuxeR ! Apparently, the header information of the .ts-file must correctly match with the requirements of MF6+ in order to avoid re-encoding
