Thanks Black Lab

I have tried that, when previously suggested by Ken Berry, but reducing the clip volume just lowers the distortion and clip volume together so that I can't clearly hear the video audio - which I must do!

Hi thereTrevor

Thank you for your suggestion.

I don't have Audacity. But I have Magix Audio Cleaning Lab and have tried your proceedure with this audio editing programme and it works a treat, the video audio is as clear as a bell whilst recording the voiceover
- BRILLIANT.

Will use this work around but would still prefer to do narration directly in VS so will keep investigating.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE FOR YOUR UNTIRING HELP ON THIS FORUM

If VS is ok in normal playback.

Have you used Audacity to record your voice over. then import the sound file to VS.

Minimise Audacity and position away from the preview screen, play the VS project. Click audacity to open and hit the ¡¥record¡¦ button.
Have you tried Trevor's advice? Seems like it should work.

If not, try this. Before you even try the narration try making a sound file from the existing audio (Share > Create Sound File), then bring that sound file back into VS to replace the original.

The reason I say that is because I sometimes have problems with audio too. For instance, if I put a fade in/out on an audio clip, but then change the volume of the clip, the fades disappear. No matter what I do to that original clip, I can no longer get it to fade. If I make a sound file of that clip and import it back into VS I can then re-apply the fades. Weird.

I previously have asked Ulead (Now Corel) to include a copy of audacity on their set up CD's as part of the "Extra content". You can download a FREE copy here

Word on the grapevine is that the "Pro" version of VideoStudio (12) will include a third party Audio Editor.

Steve - I shall eagerly await the release of VS12

Back to your last comment, I do not actually need an audio editor as editting of the narration recorded in VS is not necessary.

I accurs to me that on my system there is a conflict with the clip audio playback mode once the record voice mode is started, you do not even have to record any sound for the distortion to occur? I just need a different voice recorder VS.
